And remember, during the debates in september, Trump told the proud boys specificaly to 'stand down and stand by'.

He thought he was going to lose, and he was planning things even then.

Summarize the Trump presidency? I think everyone politically sane would agree that this has been the most corrupt, incompetent, dangerous and disastrous presidency in our nation’s short existence.

What is even more damning to the nation is the republican’s refusal to stop the obvious ongoing disaster when handed the opportunity. The Republican Party played power politics for its advantage while the nation suffered. So much for statecraft and the good of the nation.

If open corruption in office is not an impeachable offence then nothing is. If an open call for seditious insurrection is not an impeachable offence then nothing is. In republican hands the impeachment power of the congress does and means nothing.

Now what the country needs is for Trump to be put on trial. All the dirty laundry from the lies and conspiracies to the fomenting of insurrection as well as the seditious support he received from the Republicans in both chambers, has to be brought onto the official record for all of history to condemn.

After Trump’s conviction and banning from future office his republican enablers and fellow seditionists need to be censured and expelled from both houses.

The fallout from this presidency will poison the American body politic for decades. We may not survive the coming rise of the alt-reich so enabled by this president. If not, then a torn bloody fascist nation will be added to the legacy of the seditionist cheeto criminal despot wannabe Donald John Trump.

Re: The Nightmare is not Over
The Republican Party needs to clean house now.

The Republican Party needs to go out of business right now.

Unfortunately, they won't go out of business and they won't clean house.

The problem was never Trump himself. The problem was with those who enabled Trump. And they are, chiefly, the Republicans and the socially conservative Christians.

My Summary For The Time Vault
Dear people of the future, here are the lenses you need to use in order to bring the Trump presidency into focus.

1. Psychological projection. What he accused everyone else of doing is actually what he was trying to do.

2. People actually believed Fox News. I know, sounds crazy, but they did.

3. Evangelical Christians of the early 2000's favored power over values.

4. Yes, that is makeup and a comb over. Probably a diaper, too.

As Astounding Achievement
From 2015 through 2021 Trump tweeted more than 50,000 words of insults. Be sure you read that correctly. He didn't just tweet 50,000 words total. He tweeted far more total words than that. But just the insulting portions of his tweets alone amounted to over 50,000 words. If only he had put all that time and energy into understanding and doing his job and being a president to all Americans.

See the tweet excerpts here: The Complete List of Trump’s Twitter Insults (2015-2021)

And Trump pardons Bannon...
...for defrauding Trump supporters.

That’s really on-brand and shows the contempt Trump has for those who voted him in to office.

The worst president in history
He corrupted everything and everyone he touched. America may never wipe the stain away.

He wanted to, but he couldn't start a nuclear war.

Fuck him and everyone who supported him!

How to Stop the Madness
What will not work (regardless of it's truth/validity
-insulting Trump
-insulting Trump followers
-implying that liberals are better
-anything and everything else that's happened over and over again for the last 20 years

The only thing that will work:
-hold politicians accountable
-the last 5 Presidents (or Prime-Ministers, if talking about Canada... which is in the same boat) all deserve jail time for this or that screwing of the people and funneling money away from the country where it should be.
-until rules/regulations/laws are enacted that will jail/punish politicians appropriately, we will be stuck with the corrupt leaders on all sides that currently exist (some more than others, but this is irrelevant at this point.)
-if such regulations were in place the country would fix itself, it would return to where it doesn't really matter if liberals or conservatives are in power... maybe this minor detail or that minor specification would be altered... but nothing country-destroying could happen because then the politician would habe to answer for their crime
-being a politician carries a lot of responsibility and power - maybe even the most responsibility and power; how is it not the job with the highest repercussions for failure???
-people should be scared to become a politician - because if you mess up, you'll be in a heap of trouble
-"oh... but then no one will ever be a politician!!" - not true, only no more corrupt people will be politicians. Good, honest people will not have a problem, and they'll know that.
-what being a politician should not be: is a place for corrupt people to become rich. Which is what it is now. And there's one way to stop it that is easy to do and will fix everything really quickly: hold politicians accountable.

Without that "heap of trouble" possibility looming, corrupt politicians will continue to grow worse and worse.

If such tools are not enacted, Trump will not be the worst for long. Just wait another 4, 8 or 12 years.
