Some right winger's do not believe that the high school students are sincere in their reaction to their friends being killed and are pushing a conspiracy theory that the kids are being used by left-wing radicals.

I think it's reprehensible that gun control becomes this huge leftist cause every time there is a shooting like this, using an emotional situation to push their politics and drown out the other side.. I'm actually for more gun control but this is the wrong way to get it, and when you have teenagers supporting the standard leftwing position I don't trust it anyway.
Why do you think calling something "leftist" will automatically disqualify it? Perhaps you could sit back and realize that you aren't the only one that is allowed to have an opinion. Instead of calling something left or right you can start to ask if it is good or bad. Political tribalism hurts us all and it prevents us from bettering society.

We have a problem with crazed shooters these days. One could spend some time trying to figure out why, possibly to good purpose, but the point is we have a particular problem that needs addressing, and taking more guns away from the good guys strikes some of us as the least sane solution.. The problem is not guns, it's crazed shooters. If you want to argue for better restrictions that really would keep guns out of the hands of the crazed ones great, I'm all for it, but we all know that isn't really possible.
You are part of the problem. Any time that sensible gun control is put forward you will go off about how it is some leftist conspiracy. Even something as simple as closing the gun show loopholes causes the NRA to rile up their base and send out conservative politicians to speak out against the law. You appear to be so biased that if a Democratic politician talked about pumping floodwaters out of a neighborhood you would probably call it a leftist conspiracy to rob good people of water.

Because talk is cheap, and picking at the failures of others is easy, Trump, the second most presidential American to ever walk the face of the earth let this one fly today:
I guess he forgot about the one time when his country actually asked him to do just that and he said he couldn't because of bone spurs.

And I said you are welcome to your opinion. But regardless of your opinion in the US what I am doing is legal in almost every State.
Cops will shoot innocent people even if all they have on them is a cell phone. Just for your own safety you may want to rethink the advantages of open and/or concealed carry.

Cops are somewhat smarter than you seem to give them credit. So far all the cops I've encountered while openly carrying a handgun have been more interested in discussion than shooting me.
Their intelligence goes away when they are under stress in a situation where they believe their lives are at risk. This isn't a criticism of cops, it is simply a human reaction. People have been shot for simply reaching towards their back pocket to get their ID.

My issue with many gun control proponents is that they seize upon a tragedy as an opportunity to go after the gun instead of placing the blame where it actually belongs.
That would seem to be what the pro-grun lobby does. They seize on a burglar entering someone's home as an opportunity to push for greater access to guns.
You're also blaming New Zealand law and contrasting it with Australia to make a baseless assertion that gun laws actually prevent crazy people from obtaining or using those weapons. Utter nonsense. Russia has some of the strictest gun laws imaginable and their rate of homicide is off the charts. French laws on gun ownership is tightly regulated, but it didn't stop terrorists wielding AK-47's on the streets of Paris.
By that same logic, we should throw out every law since almost every law has been broken. We have laws against murder, but people still commit murder, so let's get rid of that law. People still steal stuff even though it is against the law, so let's get rid of it.
Does this make much sense to you?

Really?
Let's be real. The main reason people own assault rifles is because they think they are cool and fun to shoot. There are paranoid nutjobs who think they need to guard themselves from some fever dream fantasy they have, but those are the minority, a very scary minority. If people have anything other than a handgun for home defense, chances are those other guns are either for hunting or for fun.

Yes, some of them were sitting on planes on 9/11 wishing they had a gun, a few minutes before they died.
So you think people should be allowed to take assault rifles onto planes???
Yes, it's fun to have a skill. Especially a skill that can prove life-and-death useful.
I do agree that handgun training can be worthwhile. Assault rifle training . . . not so much. In the military and police force, yes. For your everyday civilian, no.
