Can we remove this absurd "censoring" now? It really seems a bit petty and kind of annoying even to some people who aren't Faith.
A few weeks ago when Faith's posts across several threads began to be dominated by disparaging comments about fellow participants instead of about the topic, I decided to try adding words to Faith's disallowed words list to see if it would help. Whenever Faith made a disparaging personal comment I would add the relevant words to her list of disallowed words. Within a short time much more of Faith's messages were about the topic instead of about the people discussing the topic.
In other words, it seems to work. Here are some excerpts from Faith posts from before I began populating her disallowed words list:

Sorry for the length, once I got started it was hard to stop.
After that last example from
Message 1536 in this thread I began adding words to Faith's disallowed words list, and gradually over the next couple weeks Faith greatly lessened the space she devoted to criticizing her fellow participants and substantially increased the space devoted to the topic. It seems to be working.
As I mentioned earlier, when you have to use regular expressions instead of plain words because someone is trying to avoid disallowed word filtering by writing, for example, "h-ate" instead of "hate", then the regular expressions can sometimes be overly inclusive. That can't be helped.
I have never abandoned EvC's original goal of achieving constructive debate that through moderation stays focused on topic.
