According to one source removing the earnings cap would fund 67% if benefits are not capped according to earnings and 80% if capped for the next 75 years.I also read the figure of 72% a few years ago but don't remember the source.Apparently does not entirely solve the Social Security shortfall, but that 70% or so solution goes a long way.
