Toss That Guy!
has written at least two law review articles and a blog post in which she defended dwarf-tossing.
I haven't read her articles but, at first blush, I could support such an opinion.
Government has no compelling interest in banning any actions among free consenting adults in exchange for fame and fortune as long as the action does not cause any material harm to any of the individuals involved.
Just like prostitution.
Regulation is one thing but legal proscription based on some group of politicians' personal views of what is or is not "dignified" is, IMHO, an infringement of individual rights.
I happen to believe that golf is undignified. Let's ban it.
But then I don't know my ass from a hole in the ground just like so many of the politicians we all know and love ... and can name by the dozen ... from memory.

Re: Acosta’s credentials to be restored - for now
How come NOBODY knows how this judge ruled? You can buy a transcript of the court proceeding but otherwise you'll have to wait I think three months for it to be available to the public for free. In other words nobody knows how the law was applied or the reasoning behind it as you put it. Nobody.
Are you really THAT naive?
I'm going to scold you severely but I do have good intentions here.
Do you not know the court is required by law to give copies of its rulings to all plaintiffs and respondents? It is part of the court costs already paid. Within hours of the decision's release CNN (plaintiff), and all the respondents (White House, Sanders, Chief of Staff, Deputy Chief of Staff and others) had copies from their lawyers who made hundreds of copies to disseminate to their staffs for review and comment.
You think the fact that anyone else interested in the question but not part of the case has to pay a fee is some kind of radical left-wing Nazi Commie conspiracy? It's cost reduction, kid. Right now every law school, newspaper, think tank, network, and on and on, that wants a copy WILL buy one from the court administration and will show that cost as a tax deductible business expense. And that revenue helps defray the courts expenses. The reason the court may make the opinion free of charge in a few months is because the numbers requested will be considerably less by then and it doesn't cost them anything to provide it through their archive on-line.
This is America, Love, and even the courts understand the laws of supply and demand.
If you don't like the analysis of the ruling coming from the media then go find one of your right-wing neo-facist yellow rags and ... guess what? ... get the same analysis from them.
The lawyers for all sides know full well what the court said and why it said it to every point of law. You don't need that level of detail especially since you are incapable of understanding the fine points of the various legal arguments.
This reaction from you upset me more than it should. I don't know why. Maybe because I expect better from you. Know what the hell you're talking about before you spout off in such a dumb way. This isn't that hard to understand.

Re: Acosta’s credentials to be restored - for now
I got it from Mark Levin ...
Well, should have known. JD and all, Levin is known as a crank. A deep state conspiracy pusher and should be compared to Alex Jones for the levels hit on the conspiracy crap-o-meter. Just like Jones he preys on the gullible, the intellectually destitute, the wacko.
Do you really think a judge can issue a restraining order verbally? Without a written order?
If that is your answer to my criticism, I cry. You are hopelessly lost.

Re: The Gullibility of the Right's Echo Chamber
the Dems are really good at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory, but hopefully they get their senses together and nominate a half-way decent candidate.
Oh, hey, got anybody in mind? On the positive side? With an actual chance to win? Who wouldn't deliberately insult and disgust everyone on the planet except Putin?
Elizabeth Warren?
No, Not Bernie again.

Re: The Gullibility of the Right's Echo Chamber
Trump paid to keep information about his affairs from the American people, committing fraud to steal an election. That is just the kind of thing the Constitution means by "high crimes and misdemeanors."
Agreed, but not sufficient.
We need lots more evidence of more damaging willful violations of law. Keep in mind that in this case the goal should be not impeachment but conviction in the Senate. We need to throw his ass out. So we need enough such evidence of strong enough character as to be acceptable to this upcoming Senate.
That’s a tall order.
Impeachment, as it so happened the last two times we tried it, leads to further political turmoil without changing anything. I do not see impeachment as any effective remedy if it leaves this buffoon in office.
Someone has to inform future generations of what happens when you don’t pay attention to the politics around you. Having this be the historical precedent of actually slamming the door on a president would serve as that caution.
Ehh, anyway, there is going to be an election and, maybe, if we’re lucky, the whole thing can be taken off the national political stage and relegated to the criminal courts and the tabloids where it belongs.

Re: The Gullibility of the Right's Echo Chamber
Whether he's also impeachable is still a question open to opinion ...
Let's assume these are impeachable offenses. To what end?
Impeach Trump and have a heavily Republican Senate exonerate him.
So what? Nothing changes. It won't thwart the buffoon's bluster or his lies or his agenda. It does nothing to address the situation.
Did I mention his impeachment alone would do absolutely nothing?

Re: May and Brexit Suffer a Major Blow
People who were struggling economically voted for change.
And without the knowledge that what little prosperity they had, quite substantial in Earth terms, came from their continued part within the EU.

Re: Fox News Has the Latest Poll
The new crop of members of the House are Marxists. The old guard are really closet Marxists anyway.
Worse yet a lot of them play electric guitars, synthesizers and one even plays the harmonica. There isn't a classically trained pianist in the whole bunch.

Re: California going under
So the majority of California cities could go bankrupt and people lose their pensions and nothing can be done about it and that doesn't even count as a problem for the state as a whole.
That's right. Can't have that PC socialist liberal nanny-state big-brotherism slopping down into local affairs.

There's the solution! They should form a band and do concerts instead of trying to run the country, which is beyond their talents.
Without a pianist? Heartless conservative!

Re: Jobs Americans won't do
But yes, there should be more consideration of individual cases at least.
Is that some heart I see in there? Good.
And requiring that they go through the citizenship process benefits US by making them aware of the history and culture of the country they are supposedly choosing to make their home.
Not "require" but offer the suggestion.
"Hey, Joaquin, You wanna start some citizenship classes?"
"I take tres el trabajo from gringo. No tienen tiempo."
Besides, they are here to add their culture to the others we have in this country by the hundreds. They are here to make our history with us.
And learning English has to be a part of that process. We are no longer the melting pot we used to be and we need to get back to that. Unassimilated groups do not build the nation.
Don't worry about the language thing. Mom and Dad can just get by in a supporting culture. But the kids...
They will absorb both cultures like the proverbial sponge. A couple more generations and they're just regular 'mercans' trying to get to the office on time for once this week, except with maybe a little more soul.
I keep thinking of the Guinness company which is known for its extensive care of its workers. Honesty and caring for employees ought to be basic for American businesses. Yes I understand the economic problems, but there has to be a solution.
More guns in the workplace?
Maybe not.

Re: Jobs Americans won't do
How do you explain this situation of people having to have more than one job in order to survive?
Because, Love, this society has been giving its money to multi-billionaires, in huge $100bn chunks, every year for the last 30 years. Now the top 2% have, literally, 98% of the money in this country. There isn’t enough left to go around to keep the poor folks from needing 2,3 jobs just to earn the purchasing power your father earned with one.

Eschew obfuscation. Habituate elucidation.

Nothing to believe. Known facts.
The problem is nothing I cite here, even the Fed's own numbers, will be acceptable to you since all sources are tainted by closet communist influences perpetrated by Satan.
