That's a good link. I personally don't know much about this stuff nor the arguments, but I appreciate it when they can be explained in ways that I can at least comprehend. Our overall goal is to have a quality topic for our archives that people actually enjoy reading. Limited snark should only be allowed once participants are familiar with each other and have shown mutual respect for each other's arguments.I appreciate your professionalism.

Also, I applaud you on the professional look of your first post. Don't be afraid to argue with these guys, but keep it professional and not flippant. A lot of what we choose to believe is due to the level of comfort and familiarity involved, as well as the facts and evidence. creation, for example, has no real argument apart from the one he is comfortable using....yet he keeps using it because it makes him feel better to diss the science peanut gallery here at the form. Call it boredom, I dunno. We all use the forum to relieve stress...when we can holler at our opponents.Also...I know that you are agnostic, came from a religious family, and have recently entertained some of the Intelligent Design arguments...what is your tentative conclusion so far on which discipline best explains human origins here on the third rock? Don't be afraid to be humble...its a quality that will endear you to your readers.

It would seem a bit of a chore to simply make God appear. You will say "of course...because he does not exist!" but you really can't expect anyone to "produce" anything whether he existed or he didn't. I suppose I could put in a prayer asking Him to get tangles attention. You will likely trot out the statistics (that you love) and show me how it has been proven that prayer does nothing. Maybe we best just call it a day and go fishing.

I've never really had any problem with Geology or Biology. I think that Biblical Creationism is an unneeded rabbit trail. If one wishes to believe that, they may as well believe that God routinely stops the sun and stars from spinning...just because He can. My challenge in my own personal view of faith is to discover what God actually does. I've no problem believing that He can hypothetically do anything.Which does not mean that He is simply magic at my imaginative whim.

Homeschooling has its place. It largely depends on whose home the classes are at and whether the curriculum allows for critical thought. By the way, are we talking about Porkncheese? I guess my question is this:
Why is there an "opposing" view? Are we talking scientists/biologists who simply disagree or are we talking two entirely different "groups" with two entirely different methodologies, two different sets of definitions for common terms used in the field of study, and two different world views?

Sensei, I need to teach you a couple of things, if I may. AZ is not simply an atheist. He is a rabid antitheist. He does not believe in magic. I do. When I see wonderful human creativity from my Shen Yun friends, I see the Spirit of Creativity at work, emanating through them. Not from them. Through them. That Spirit is magic and its what created all that is, seen and unseen.That being said, one good thing about EvC Forum is that in these sorts of arguments, you must be science-minded and specific...unless we are in the Faith * Belief side of the Forum, where you are free to dream, imagine, and allow the Spirit of Creativity to move through you in our futile attempts to open blind eyes.Some folks are willfully blind. Some folks who accuse you of obfuscation are themselves obfuscators. Its how life is here in America.

AZ, some forces in this universe have no objective evidence that you can jot down in your journal. You don't get any.
