After googling, this is what I got:
quote:
granite is a natural, porous material which can absorb liquids such as water or oil. When absorbed, liquids can leave a dark colored spot in the stone. Water will evaporate in time but oil substances can leave stains if not wiped up within minutes{...}As natural stones, marble and granite counter tops have varying degrees of porosity, which means that yesthey will indeed absorb water. ... For example, denser igneous stones like granite absorb less liquid than their metamorphic counterpart, marble. But prolonged contact with moisture can affect both surfaces.
Now please dont try and convince me that somehow there was a lot of water on the planet that got absorbed in the underlying granite. It sounds too much like finding a conclusion that accepts the premise. Or perhaps I do not yet understand your premise.

We must realize that the Reformation world view leads in the direction of government freedom. But the humanist world view with inevitable certainty leads in the direction of statism. This is so because humanists, having no god, must put something at the center, and it is inevitably society, government, or the state.- Francis A. Schaeffer
The whole war between the atheist and the theist comes down to this: the atheist believes a 'what' created the universe; the theist believes a 'who' created the universe.- Criss Jami, Killosophy
