Juvennisun writes:

We can have many theoretical models.

There are an infinite number of batshit crazy ideas. These are not theoretical models. To build a model, you have to start with some facts that you can show evidentially may be related and relevant to a hypothesis.

The global flood could start with a theoretical model.

No! You must start with facts relevant to a hypothesis. So far you haven't given us any evidence or even a timescale that would suggest a global flood. You have to show us the body before you claim Colonel Mustard in the library with a dagger.

Throw out the babies with the flood waters?
OK, now you have me convinced that the Great Flood happened exactly as described in the bible. But I find myself asking why did God drown all those little puppy dogs, and kitty cats, and bunny rabbits, and all those innocent unborn fetuses in the wombs of all the pregnant women he drowned? My model of God as a merciful and benevolent deity is now shattered by this evidence! My wife and I, despite our advanced years, are now trying to have another child that we can sacrifice to this God from hell.

If the amount of water you need is what it takes to raise the worldwide level by 1100 feet, you might have a point there! That’s only 41,000,000 cubic miles of water to find and then get rid of!

Do some math before you post weird factoids, Juvinessun.

That is about (400 miles)^3 of water. That is not much if you consider how much the current ocean water is.

Re: Add one cup of BC
Some of BC has evidence of being connected to the bit of China which was sitting where eastern Australia now is. China split off about 825,000,000 years ago, and BC split from China about 50,000,000 years later.
There may be other bits added subsequently.

It is strange that those who work out the movements of bits of continents never find evidence of a global flood.

So where did it hide? In a cube somewhere?

Impractical thought. Depositon/erosion of sediments and continental drift are in two different time scale.

Time scales
In what way are deposition/erosion and continental drift on different time scales?
And when can we start seeing evidence for the Floode?

My prediction is that Juvenissun will continue in this non-evidential, single sentence trolling manner, avoiding telling us his actual postion or putting his case. But wouldn't it be great if just one of these people decided to discuss this stuff intelligently, openly and honestly?

Sadly, Juvenissun is yet another disingenuous young earth creationist.

Geologist? Really? Based on what?

I remember a creationist from Canada who swore up and down and sideways twice on Sundays that he was a scientist.

OK, what kind of scientist was he? What were his qualifications?

Well, uh, he attended a science class once. So that made him a scientist? Without any indication of whether he had even stayed awake in that single class?

How could we ever accept anything a creationist says at face value?

Re: Time scales
Well who knows. He claims not to understand the flood geology essay so it seems likely he isn't. But I know an atheist who has a degree in Theology so such things can happen.

I just wish the bugger would be honest with us, but that doesn't seem to be a Christian trait. He probably thinks he's playing with devils so shouldn't play fair. Who knows what goes on in these loon's heads

Re: Time scales

To see the effect on outcrop and map scale, one is counted 10^5 years and one is in 10^8 years. So, we are not going to see the effect of deposition/erosion on map scale.

What kind of evidence you expect to see about the global flood? Deposition? Erosion? Folded mountain? Earthquake? or something?

Re: lord of the belief
On Sunday morning, you don't assume that your church has moved to some random new location, do you? You don't demand evidence that it's in the same place as last week, do you?

Good example. If you work in your office and people ask you what is the evidence that you believe your home is still there? How do you answer?

Do you take: "I don't see any news on TV which reported otherwise" as a good evidence? Is there a better evidence for that? Or, you rather say: I "believe" it is still there.

Lesson: Ask: "Evidence?" is a coward response. It means that you surrendered in the argument.

You know the answer to that; it's the same answer that you would give: It was there the last time I checked and there's no evidence that it has changed.
