Good evening
At the grocery store I work at, our stores pharmacy will be one of the few distributors in the Denver area. They say we should get the vaccine within 2 weeks and that after the essential workers get inoculated, we will get our shots right before the general public...I think starting with the aged. I'm 61 and tested negative, plus I am not in the essential category of workers.

Re: Throwing Luck and Chance Away
The reason I ask is because I was at work on Saturday January 2nd when the pharmacists had an open appointment from a scheduled visit by a Hospital Worker who canceled. They asked my Boss if he had anyone who qualified as high(er)risk and who would volunteer. I took the spot and received my first of two doses of the Moderna Covid 19 vaccine. The next day I felt fine....no symptoms whatsoever. My 2nd dose will occur by the end of January and the literature suggests that I wont really feel the full effects of immunization until a week or so after that....likely mid February. The general public does not know anything about availability at this time, but we are gearing up for it and expected to get to them(in categorical order) by the time I get my second shot.(January 29th)
I felt a bit sore in my arm and for a brief moment at home, my lungs burned as if on fire and I thought to myself how that might be how COVID 19 actually feels...in which case I likely would die from such a disease. I was not afraid of the shot, however.
As I joke to people, I put a lot worse substances into my body in my early twenties than a quickly formed (and approved) vaccine. I consider it a blessing to be among the first in my store to get it...and I trust God more than I do any man-made vaccine. I think that the mainstream charismatic church is ignorant, however. Many of them will refuse to get vaccinated.
I suppose that its all an issue of trust. Not simply trust in God but trust in humans.

Re: Throwing Luck and Chance Away
No. Was the missed appointment a result of blind luck or chance? Was my relationship with my employer(as well as the union steward) a result of luck or chance? Was my familiarity with communication skills and my ability to keep quiet in a public place a result of luck or chance?
I personally think that my prayers surely did not hurt either. You can call it all chance if you want, but if I were you, I wouldn't throw away the bells and the smells just yet.

Re: Throwing Luck and Chance Away
So you think the no-show of a random customer was pre-determined then?
I think that the fact that my Mother caught COVID 19 and passed on December 20th at 200 am was predetermined by a loving intelligence. I think that the fact that I was stressed because of her illness, the fact that I said I had COVID symptoms because I vaguely felt sick several days before she passed.
The fact that I was quarantined for 10 days during Christmas. The fact that I voluntarily took a COVID test even though I was never ordered to do so. The fact that I have sleep Apnea and type 2 diabetes and qualify as a trial candidate due to my age(61) and my underlying health conditions. The fact that my Boss knew that I tested negative and was cleared for work again one week ago. Add that to the "random" cancellation and my being selected. And that I was told to keep it from the public to avoid the inevitable stampede of gray panthers who all will claim special consideration. Our phone at work is already ringing by people who demand to see the pharmacist.
We were told to tell them that there is no information regarding public availability at this time. As far as I know, only essential workers from the hospitals such as Doctors and Nurses are now receiving the vaccine.
And no information regarding our status as a COVID 19 vaccination sight as yet been announced to the public (except by me at EvC Forum. Shhhhhhh! )
The fact that you and I met as online pen pals and foils was no mere random chance, Tangle. Unless you believe that a random Christian guy ended up arguing with you about the very concept of God, Chance, Randomness, Science, and Luck was and is me.
By the way, read about the vaccine I received.
A Guide to Moderna’s COVID-19 Vaccine written through FactCheck.Org. It could well be that I was selected rather than randomly picked.
Of course if we don't know, we could simply throw the dice.

No sir. I am sad that Mom passed. She was my sweetie and will forever be my sweetie eternally. But you know, Tangle...she simply stopped eating. She was 97. She passed in her sleep. And even though she never talked much about God or Jesus, her actions in life were her testimony.
Am I mad? In what way do you see me as mad? Mad as in angry? Or mad as in crazy?

Re: Throwing Luck and Chance Away
still no real symptoms apart from the sore arm except for that brief feeling that my lungs were on fire...similar to how chronic bronchitis feels only worse. It only lasted that first night after I received the shot, however. According to my link,
quote:
Like its predecessor, the Moderna vaccine also uses an mRNA design, but it differs on the specifics, including the amount of time between doses, the amount of genetic material in each shot and the precise lipid nanoparticles that surround and protect the mRNA. That difference in fat formulation is thought to be why the Moderna vaccine doesn’t need to be kept as cold a feature that should make it easier to distribute.(...)As with most other COVID-19 vaccine designs, the Moderna mRNA vaccine works by triggering an immune response against the SARS-CoV-2 virus’s spike protein, which sits on the surface of the virus and is what the virus uses to enter cells.
The vaccine is made of modified messenger RNA, or mRNA, wrapped in a special blend of fatty molecules known as lipid nanoparticles. The mRNA provides instructions for cells to make their own spike proteins, prompting the body to generate protective antibodies and activate other immune cells known as T cells. The lipids help deliver the RNA into cells and prevent it from being degraded too quickly.
Whereas the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine includes 30 micrograms of mRNA in each dose, Moderna’s shot has 100 micrograms; the two vaccines also use a different mix of lipids. These differences may explain why Moderna’s vaccine appears to produce more expected side effects than its competitor.
That feeling that my whole chest was on fire was scary and I am glad that it was either psycho-somatic or caused by the Vaccine than if I had COVID itself. I can only imagine the hell that some people endure with this virus.

We haven't had one of these in a while. Dog pile on Phat!
what are we wrestling over? Covid 19? I will admit I am mad at that demon. Not the virus itself...but the inept way it was handled. But the orange one will soon be a historical footnote. Viruses will continue to appear from time to time. And people die... even those closest to our heart. But as I said before...she was 97. She died in her sleep. Just as she always wanted to go. I will love and remember her forever. And as for God? (Jesus) Am I mad at Him? What would I be mad at Him for specifically? Allowing disease to exist? Allowing Trump to exist? Past hurts and unfairness? Or just the fact that I am not in charge???

Re: Can vaccinated people be spreaders?
You bring up a scenario which may prove to be real and potentially troublesome.
I think we collectively just want this pandemic to be over, but the all clear siren has not sounded yet and may not sound for at least another year of enhanced protections.
I remeber back a year ago when this whole thing started and how you uniquely adopted a routine of grocery quarantine, rigorous washing of every item of clothing that you wore outside of the house, and self isolation from society in general. If all Americans had done what you did, we would be farther along today in herd immunity and not anywhere near as many would have died.
I think that mandatory vaccinations is not too far fetched as long as its fully paid for by the government, though as long as they make it available and encourage people to get vaccinated that may be enough.

Us And Them
Ahhh yes. Mr. Pork N Cheese! You've been squawking on this soapbox for awhile now.
Hows school, by the way? What are you learning about?
We are into the 2nd half of 2023 and we are still seeing the same trend across the western world. Deaths at rates never seen before.
If true, why is the media hiding this story? Where are your sources? And are you suggesting that the government and media are against the interests of the common people?
In Australia the fact that people are dying at a 20% higher rate was brought to the attention of the politicians in parliament. They voted on whether to investigate this trend and most voted no...
But for the sake of argument, lets say you are right. "They" are deceiving us.(We)
We cant trust our government. So...what do you suggest that we do? Overthrow the current governments? Elect a populist? Join Antifa or The Proud Boys?
I would like to hear your solution.
