I don't see how you can care about this when pigs are flying and interfering with air traffic and causing plane crashes and the deaths of thousands. The only reason you don't hear about it is because our governments are ignoring it. Reports are coming in from across the country of rising covid rates with different variants in different regions. All the articles say we shouldn't be concerned.The more recent virus variants have followed a trend of becoming less lethal, but there's also hints of it becoming more infectious and less vulnerable to vaccines and our immune systems. Hopefully the articles are correct that there's no reason for concern, but if I haven't already said it somewhere in this thread I'll say it now: We might be done with the virus, but the virus isn't done with us.Predicting the future is a fool's game, but I'll try anyway. I think there will be an uptick in covid infections this winter, but because of the milder symptoms most people won't get tested or if they do they're results won't be reported, so we'll have a really poor handle on how bad it is. The only hard statistics we'll have is hospitalizations, which will tick up, especially for the older community. Hospitalizations of older people may be the only way we'll know how bad it is.And don't forget long covid. Long covid is a very, very bad thing. You do not want to risk long covid.Prudence dictates taking measures to reduce the odds of catching covid. Even the milder forms of covid we now see can be lethal to anyone - the older you are the worse it might be. Cases of myocarditis and pericarditis have rarely been observed following receipt of COVID-19 vaccines used in the United States. Evidence from multiple monitoring systems in the United States and around the globe support a causal association between mRNA COVID-19 vaccines (i.e., Moderna or Pfizer-BioNTech) and myocarditis and pericarditis.Myocarditis is inflammation of the heart muscle, and pericarditis is inflammation of the lining outside the heart; myopericarditis is present when both myocarditis and pericarditis occur at the same time. In these conditions, inflammation occurs in response to an infection or some other trigger. CDC has published case definitions for myocarditis and pericarditis. The severity of cases of myocarditis and pericarditis can vary. CDC has published studies with clinical information about myocarditis and pericarditis after COVID-19 vaccination.Cases of myocarditis and pericarditis have occurred most frequently in adolescent and young adult males within 7 days after receiving the second dose of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine; however, cases have also been observed after dose 1 and booster doses.Data from the clinical trials of the Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine and global vaccine safety monitoring systems suggest an increased risk of myocarditis and pericarditis following Novavax vaccination. Report all cases of myocarditis and pericarditis post-COVID-19 vaccination to the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS).
Consider myocarditis and pericarditis in persons with acute chest pain, shortness of breath, or palpitations, particularly in adolescents and young adults. Younger children who have myocarditis or pericarditis may have non-specific symptoms such as irritability, vomiting, poor feeding, tachypnea (fast breathing), or lethargy.
Ask about prior COVID-19 vaccination if you identify these symptoms, as well as relevant questions about medical, travel, and social history.
For initial evaluation, consider an electrocardiogram (ECG), troponin level, and inflammatory markers such as C-reactive protein and erythrocyte sedimentation rate. In the setting of normal ECG, troponin, and inflammatory markers, myocarditis or pericarditis are unlikely.
For suspected cases, consider consultation with cardiology specialists for assistance with cardiac evaluation and management. Evaluation and management may vary depending on the patient age, clinical presentation, potential causes, or practice preference of the provider.
For follow-up of patients with myocarditis, consult the guidance from the American Heart Association and American College of Cardiology.
It is important to evaluate patients to rule out other potential causes of myocarditis and pericarditis. Consider consultation with infectious disease and/or rheumatology specialists to assist in this evaluation.
Where available, evaluate for potential causes of myocarditis and pericarditis, particularly acute COVID-19 illness, current SARS-CoV-2 infection (such as PCR testing), or prior SARS-CoV-2 infection (such as, detection of SARS-CoV-2 antibodies), as well as other viral causes (such as, enterovirus PCR and comprehensive respiratory viral pathogen testing).
CDC recommends everyone ages 6 months and older get vaccinated as soon as possible to protect against COVID-19 and its potentially severe complications.
If myocarditis or pericarditis is diagnosed after a COVID-19 vaccine dose, before giving additional doses, please refer to the latest guidance in the COVID-19 and myocarditis and pericarditis section of the Interim Clinical Considerations for Use of COVID-19 Vaccines web page.

My arm is still quite sore. I got the flu shot also and next week I will get the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccine and the first shingles shot I keep hoping for a universal flu vaccine and also one for the so-called common cold. Respiratory infections kill a lot of people but having a vaccine that spares us the sheer misery of a cold or pneumonia would be great!

I also got the latest Covid and Flu vaccinations on Friday and my arms are still sore as well but it's not as bad as the shingles vaccination, that one really hurt. I'm on the fence about the RSV vaccination as I'm old enough but don't have any of the underlying health issues (compromised immune system, heart/lung disease) that they recommend getting it for.

I figure I will take advantage of anything that will help keep me from getting an infection. Many years ago I developed a fungal lung infection after a trip to Bolivia. It took years to shake it and it left me with a condition very similar to COPD. I guess humans are lucky that fungal infections are caused primarily from environmental exposure to spores rather than passed from person to person like bacterial or viral infections, since there are very few medicines that function like antibiotics, but to attack fungi.

The political faithful of the Republican base is mostly comprised of the various actively-believing protestant cults. This whole bs about vaccine controversies stems from that religious Republican home.Again, the poison that is religious thought caused an insidious evil to befall the population. I earlier predicted that the covid infection rate would show itself this winter as hospitalizations, and that's turning out to be the case.
