Re: Trump's Incitement Filled Speech
The devoutly religious are just as blind. Reality, even in text on the screen, has no meaning for them.
You love you some Trump don'cha MAGA boy.
He's going down, in flames, politically, criminally, personally. He's also broke.
And he owes out the kazoo. Oh boy does he owe!
He has the best crashes. The best personal destructions.
Never before in history has a president destroyed himself so completely while trying to destroy the nation.
He has the best destructions.

So quote to your very best .
I want to see your killer quotes, then, and ONLY THEN, your illuminated commentary .
Don't just drop a line, "I hope you are reading that". Show me you read it.

No. You can watch it come out from the senate floor.

That's a lie. I never quoted Liz Cheney.
I have never read or heard anything Liz Cheney has ever had to say on any subject, ever. I had never heard anything more than her name before the impeachment in the House last week. The only thing I know about her is she voted to impeach, which is what any normal person would do.
I said what I said, and the only person I have "quoted" to you, was YOU. Got it now? I only quoted you.
I didn't provide any evidence, because there are literally thousands of hours of video evidence. If you haven't seen it you're not paying attention.
Correction: Taq was the one who quoted Cheney, but you jumped into our exchange.
No, I just called your bullshit bullshit.

It was really something to watch wasn't it?
The irony is that if he had actually tried to address Covid19, he might have saved America, he really could have been a hero, but he always takes the low road.
He will be a total clusterfuck in his up coming trials, he just can't help himself.
OK, I think I'm done now. I don't think talking about this shit is fun.
The day after Trump was elected was the worst day of my life! And then the next day was worse, over and over, worse and worse. My sense of dread grew. Yesterday when Joe Biden was sworn in was the best day in 4 years and 2 months. For the first time I feel cautiously hopeful that America will step back from the dark abyss.

Let's all say Trump called for violence. Then refuse to offer any evidence.
Oops.
Everybody here is already doing that.
The scary thing is people here actually think that they have already made the case.
I am not scared when people simply express a feeling of desire, while they know they are just engaged in wishful thinking. I do get scared when people uncritically believe a conclusion when no examination of the evidence has been made on the part of the believer.
I am wondering if I should pretend this isn't as bad as I know it actually is.

Re: Let's all say Trump called for violence. Then refuse to offer any evidence.
Or you could examine the evidence presented, do some research on the web and find the fuck out!
You do have internet, don't you? Strange question, I know, but you never know about these woo-woo majik Trumpetters.
I also don't think you're a lawyer of any kind let alone a criminal, constitutional or 1st amendment one. The lawyers across the networks speaking out on Trump's incitement of sedition, including the Senate Minority Leader, probably know more about the law than either of us.
I'll let you guess what they're saying. Even your boys on Faux News!
Or are you one of those OAN freaks? Lots of Nazis there.

Re: Let's all say Trump called for violence. Then refuse to offer any evidence.
The scary thing is people here actually think that they have already made the case.
Just to be clear, I wasn't trying to make a case to you. Instead I was saying your idea of "just move on" is bullshit. And it is not going to happen.
I do get scared when people uncritically believe a conclusion when no examination of the evidence has been made on the part of the believer.
Yep, I don't like that either, but my conclusions are based on the evidence I have seen. I will be interested to see if my conclusions will hold when I see the evidence presented in the trial.
I am wondering if I should pretend this isn't as bad as I know it actually is.
I'm wondering why you care what people on a rather obscure internet forum think, especially since you so often misunderstand what they say. None of us has any influence on what is going to happen to Donald Trump and he is totally responsible for what's going to be his life for the foreseeable future.

Let me guess:
The legal scholars and attorneys for Removal are your chosen authorities.
Your filter is easy to spot.
One other thing that I have noticed is that the more critically minded among Trump's legal critics , seem to admit that there is a search going on to find the exact crime he could be guilty of.
See Slate article:

Legal representation
Does anyone know what will happen if trump can't find a lawyer to take his impeachment case. They all know he'll stiff them on their fees.
I was really hoping it would be Rudy.

I wonder what you feel is the exact crime?
I know you are afraid to say much, because you don't want me demanding you provide quotations of Trump's words, but can you at least find a clever and evasive way to answer the question with at least a little genuine substance?

No, they aren't ALL for a cheeto trial. Some are of the opinion that the old precedent of trying an impeached individual after he was no longer in office doesn't apply to a president. Most think it does.
But,
they all agree that as a matter of law Trump's speech, of which you read every word but comprehended none, was legally, instigating insurrection. That is called sedition in the law books.
You do know the definitions of both insurrection and instigating, right?
Trump did both.
Push back all you want MAGA boy. Your cheeto is going down.
See Slate article
You didn't even read the thing, did you?
They were detailing yet another constitutional crime committed by your beloved Cheeto-n-Thief (thanx, jar). The senate trial is the least of his legal worries over the result of his incitement to insurrection. The senate can't put him in jail. The District of Columbia is not so hampered.
Push back all you want MAGA boy. Your cheeto is going down hard.

Re: Let's all say Trump called for violence. Then refuse to offer any evidence.
I read every word, very carefully.
Everything Trump said was very amazingly & unambiguously about voting and political engagement THAT IN NO WAY ENCOURAGED VIOLENCE. I admit that I read the whole thing and kept everything in its context.
I was shocked at how legal the speech truley was.
Trump made one mistake, later though. The break in happened at about 2:05. He waited till 2:38 to explicitly tell people to be peaceful. His first Tweet, around 224, failed to mention such a warning, instead he attacked Pence.
That is something that possibly could be used against him.
He did not clearly state that the break in was part of the violence, at 2:38, but I see a call against violence as also a call against the break in.

The facts will get presented.
The Senate will try Donald Trump.
The Southern District of the State of New York will try Donald Trump.
The New York Attorney General is likely to indict Donald Trump.
It's likely the State of Georgia will try Donald Trump.
The City of Manhattan will try Donald Trump.
And just about every city, every town, every county and every nation where the Trump Crime Family has ever done business will be asking to see the financial records that become available from all the above instances.
And then there is the $400,000,000.00 personally guaranteed debt that is coming due.

One of the inciteful statements from Trump's January 6th rally speech:
quote:
And we fight. We fight like Hell and if you don’t fight like Hell, you’re not going to have a country any more.
A couple hours later:
That sure looks like "fighting like hell" to me, just as Trump instructed.
