I lay that at Biden's feet. One of his jobs was to build and grow the young pols in the party's pipeline. When was the last time he did any kind of mentor thing at a news conference or speech or publicly uttered "off the cuff" remark? The way Obama kept Biden involved, public and shining. You've got a point. The problem with the Dems, however, is that they want to support too many groups and there is not enough money to go around. If they end up raising taxes, it wont help the situation.

If tax increases are used to fund improvements in healthcare, housing and nutrition, how would we not be better off?Take just healthcare, for example. As Medicare spending has increased over time, lifespans have increased. That's what better healthcare will do. And here's a graph about Social Security's impact on lifespan showing that higher SS income leads to longer lifespans: If we did the same for the general population the average quality of life would improve, and a happier, healthier population is also a more productive one.--Percy
