I first sampled cannabis 55 years ago. I mostly smoked it all that time.After 6 months of vaping clean dabs, my doctor remarked on the dramatic improvement in my wheeze at an annual exam.Being old school (doctors write too much down, medical cards put you on a list, etc-- like Mao's announced tolerance for dissent, "Let 10,000 Flowers Bloom," they look like self-reporting to me), I told her nothing.I had none of the gear. An extraction column, vacuum pump and chamber set me back about $350. Butane and ethanol costs are trivial.

When laws proscribe my victimless will to pleasure, I ignore them.Doesn't everyone?

It's the victimless part of my pagan hedonism the religious deny -- my pleasure hurts them ... there ...inside.

I believe such a distillation apparatus is used by some to separate THC, CBD, and the terpenes, allowing one to use a single cannabis component or to create custom blends. The kitchen chemistry I use can't do that, but it does produce a full profile of the plant, retaining the "entourage effect" while eliminating the plant waxes, lipids, chlorophyll, etc.I've sampled pure THC -- not my cup of tea.
