Stop saying "mandatory". I have never, repeat never, suggested that "we" should make anything mandatory. I have told you that many times. Stop ignoring it. It's Jesus who makes it mandatory - for you.

The story implies that the rich young ruler wasn't "saved" - i.e. didn't go to heaven.
