Did anyone think the app wouldn't be a security risk? China is going to be accessing all the data they can from people that use the app. I think this in itself is reason to cancel or not attend the games.
By not responding the Chinese organizing committee pretty much admit they are aware of the issues already.
It is incumbent that the US Olympic Committee and the US Government warn all athletes and attendees that ALL of their personal data is at risk and that they can expect that their phones and devices will be compromised.

An app all attendees of the upcoming Beijing Olympics must use has encryption flaws that could allow personal information to leak, a cyber security watchdog said Tuesday.
The "simple but devastating flaw" in the encryption of the MY2022 app, which is used to monitor Covid and is mandatory for athletes, journalists and other attendees of the games in China's capital, could allow health information, voice message and other data to leak, warned Jeffrey Knockel, author of the report for Citizen Lab.
Citizen Lab notified the Chinese organizing committee for the Games of the issues in early December and gave them 15 days to respond and 45 days to fix the problem, but received no reply.
"China has a history of undermining encryption technology to perform political censorship and surveillance," Knockel wrote.
"As such, it is reasonable to ask whether the encryption in this app was intentionally sabotaged for surveillance purposes or whether the defect was born of developer negligence," he continued, adding that "the case for the Chinese government sabotaging MY2022's encryption is problematic."

If your viewpoint has merits and facts to back it up why would you have to lie?

It got my heart pounding last night in leagues when I missed some easy shots. I tangentially know the Olympic curlers, I don't think they know me, but I have met John Shuster and the rest a couple of times.

Olympic venue
I am casual acquaintances with some of the Olympic curlers I curl in Superior, WI. The skip of the Men's team, John Shuster, lives in Superior and curls out of the Duluth, MN club. We are hoping he will curl out of our club when he retires from the Olympics.
I agree that there should be a permanent Olympic venue. Not sure if Greenland is the right choice. It does not have and cannot sustain the infrastructure needed. I do not think it should be in any of the large countries. Maybe Iceland? New Zealand?
