What does "mindless" actually mean? I have been thinking about this all day. It's just such a strange way to describe the normal processes of physics, chemistry, and biology. I see religious people and creationists use it to describe things often. I always wonder if they put "mindless" in front of the name of every inanimate object when they are talking with themselves in their own mind? Mindless rocks and mindless stars and mindless atoms?

Ok, I have to object. You and Tangle are painting cleverness as a vice and clever people as conmen.

And of course there have been some pretty clever con men as we've seen with a couple of the richest men ever. I've just always had a soft spot in my heart for "clever." Back in the '80s a British dragonfly specialist and his wife and 4 year old daughter came to study with me for a summer. The daughter, Rebecca, told me the story of how she had collected her very first dragonfly and at the end, she asked me, "Wasn't that clever of me?", and I assured her she was indeed clever.

The question is, "Why not?" Why wouldn't you use a saw to saw a board or a drill to drill a hole or a hammer to hammer a nail? Intentional self-delusion like Phat's is a mystery I will never understand. It appears to have damaged every aspect of his life and his ability for rational thought. That's what makes it so astonishing and noteworthy when he says something like this: Phat writes: That's the real E in EvC. EVIDENCE vs Creationism. It's the whole argument. In general, believers not only need no objective evidence, but they also don't WANT to question.... And then fails to apply that simple lesson and continues to deny the reality of what he just said. It's the Santa clause.

Because my intuition tells me that tough times are ahead...for all of us, believer and non-believer alike. Granted my intuition is NOT fact-based, though I could make an argument defending my rationale for...what you call doom, doom, we are ALL doomed! Can you give us an example of your intuition guiding you on the best decisions about future events that threaten our civilization that were not already common knowledge, like climate change, over population, over use of dwindling resources like clean water and soil, the insect apocalypse and invasive species.

You have said previously that you after attending church made a decision to reject the Christian faith I just have to ask you, do you describe when kids stop believing in Santa Claus, as rejecting Santa? I don't know about Tangle, but I didn't make a decision to reject anything, I just realized that I didn't believe anymore, and knowing what I know now (6 decades later), about religions and bible based ones in particular, I would never be able to believe again without compelling, overwhelming, scientific evidence of a detectable supernatural presence or volume in this Universe. Pretending to believe would be most unsatisfying.

I would bet that not more than a nickel of the tax you pay per year is spent helping feed hungry people, you whiny, self-centered !@#$%^&*! You support policies and politicians that support billionaires and that cost the middle class Trillions of dollars added to the national debt. Remember the Trump tax cut for billionaires, Asshole? AND Trump wants to be an authoritarian, you ignorant jerk! Taxes are your fair share for the benefits you receive automatically by living in a civilization. You don't want your tax dollars to benefit anyone but you, well I don't want MY tax dollars benefiting YOU!
The only reason you don't worry about it is you likely get paid by the government for what you do. I do worry about it. That's why I vote for people who vote to support food for hungry people, that's why I donate to food programs. When I worked for the government I built a world class insect imaging lab and my salary was so low that I qualified for food stamps, luckily I have a pension from another job in the private sector and my wife had a high paying job.
