Bottomless Pit Like
For what it's worth, Revelation 20:1-3 ASV says this:
Revelation 20:1-3:
quote:
1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand.
2 And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, which is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years,
3 and cast him into the abyss, and shut it, and sealed it over him, that he should deceive the nations no more, until the thousand years should be finished: after this he must be loosed for a little time.
I'm not making any determination on this. When I read that chapter black holes come to mind.

Where is a bottomless pit mentioned in your quote?
Whoops! I remembered that from the KJV which uses the term, "bottomless pit." The ASV rendering is "abyss." According to both of my Greek-English interlinears, the Nestlies and the Received Texts, "abyss" is the literal rendering. There may or may not be any relevance to the topic, but perhaps so. The consensus seems to be that black holes do have a bottom of sorts and could be construed as an abyss.
