Re: setting it straight
Arkathon, you said
"Trying to prove that he does not exist via science or pseudo-science I think cannot be done. Capice?"
Can I point out that science DOES NOT try to prove that God doesn't exist - it has nothing to say on whether he does or does not. Capice?

Re: a spiritual speck
He does it because if he had to admit to a "speck" then he would have to accept the subsequent expansion and if he accepts the subsequent expansion he would have to accept that it took a darned sight longer that 6200 to get from the "speck" to where we are now. He will not entertain ANYTHING that might disagree with an Earth only 6200 years old, no matter what!
Arkathon, what if God created the "speck" as you so fondly call it, but much longer ago? God can still be the Creater for you, all that changes is the time since it happened. What's your problem with this?

But Arkathon.....
.....I thought that the whole point of your theory was to somehow reconcile the apparent age of the Universe with your insistence that it is only 6200 years old. If you're willing to accept any age, then what's the point of your theory? The only reason that the bullets don't seem to be hitting your theory (in your eyes) is because they're flying through the huge, gaping holes in it! Have you considered the possibility that the chap who wrote the "Christian" account might have done exactly what you are doing - trying to find an explanation as to why we're all here? Exactly the same thing that cosmologists are doing! We have absolutely no evidence that the Genesis account was dictated or inspired by God. We do have a wealth of evidence that contradicts the Genesis account, for example the fossil record, rock dating. How can your theory account for these?
Edited to apologise for having replied to the wrong person, but the title says it all really

Christian behaviour standards!
Yet again we've had a so-called Christian who believes in the Creation theory misquote someone DELIBERATELY. The first one I came across on this forum was 14gipper. Arkathon, your behaviour here has been appalling. You claim to be a Christian, yet you have consistently insulted people who have tried to help you, especially Sylas. All the time you've been doing this, you've been proclaiming the glory of God and His Creation. Tell me, do you think that Christians are supposed to behave like you have? You see, I'm an practicing Christian AND FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I'M ASHAMED TO ADMIT THAT!!!!! I'm ashamed because I don't want anyone to think for even a minute that I would ever behave in this way. Yes, I'm an evolutionist, but I'm a Christian first. Do I really want to be part of a religion which can produce people who behave like you? If, for a single minute I believed all your justifications for your behaviour I would be heading for Atheist Central faster than a speeding bullet. I can see why there are so few Creationists who post on this site - they don't want to be associated with this type of moronic, rude, ungrateful and downright UNCHRISTIAN behaviour. Oh yeah, and before you have a go at me, I'm well aware of the log in my own eye - I'm gonna harvest it and carve a woodentop to keep you company! Nuff said!
To the moderators - sorry, but I'm really ashamed and bleedin' furious that a fellow Christian could post messages like the ones posted to Sylas. I just blew my top! I'm off to say a hatful of "Hail Marys".

Re: king's highway
Ned, could someone check out the ISP for Ark and 14gippper? They just seem soooooooooo similar with the same bad habits, like dishonesty in quoting other posters.

Re: king's highway
Thanks, Asgara, Oh Mighty Queen! I'd been suspicious since yesterday. Must just be a common character trait in literalists!
Edit to catch up with Asgara. I agree with you, that's the only reason I've plodded on with this thread. Is it possible to get Sylas's posts collected together in one place as a sort of cosmology primer for those of us who know so little about this field? Also for newcomers who may miss these excellent posts.

Re: Christian behaviour standards!
I agree with you. Bad science is fair game. Problem is that the science he's spouting isn't even good enough to be called bad science, it's just bad!! Leave him to stew in his own juice. I do that with my toddler when he has a tantrum - works a dream!
