Re: Dinos
Actually Scientifically, unless scientists could look over ever inch of the earth at the same time and see that no dinos exist, only then could we say that they are "extinct" but it is because of evolutionary ideas that we are lead to believe that they don't exist.

I'm afraid at that extreme (every inch ... at the same time) your suggestion is obviously very silly. Let's say I could scan all of north america at once then 1 month later all of africa and found no dinosaurs. Then at monthly intervals the rest of the continents. Could I then not safely give a high probability conclusion that there are not dinosaurs? If not why not?

Funny then, that two things are true:

1) People with cameras live all over the Earth, on every continent, and yet nobody has any pictures of dinosaurs.

2) Scientists concluded that dinosaurs represented an extinct taxa of organisms before Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species.

How could scientists make a conclusion based on "evolutionary ideas" before those ideas had been published?

"The Fool has said in his heart, 'There is no God'"

I know that's your signature, and it seems like it's the 3rd time I've quoted this part of the Bible in as many days, but:

quote:
But I say to you ... whoever says, 'You fool!' shall be liable to the hell of fire. - Matthew 5:22

God sayz: Ease up on the name-calling, or else.

How do you say something in your heart anyway? Doesn't that take some expensive surgical equipment and a very small loudspeaker?

Re: 65 million years..
Wollemi Pine....Supposedly extinct 65 million years ago (Specimens in fossil record) alive and well today in Australia almost identical to it's fossil relative.

Point = If evolution occurs by mutations over long periods of time. Why after 65 million years is the Wollemi Pine unchanged?

The Fool
First off...

I am not calling anyone names. I'm stating a fact. Anyone who does not believe in God is a fool, because he is ignorant. He denies blantant evidence in his face. He denies the obvious.

Secondly....

Science has proven me right. How long has the science community deemed the Wollemi Pine extinct? And now we find that it is alive a well, growing in Australia. Enough said there....

Thridly...

There were "evolutionary ideas" long before Darwin. Darwin was not the originator of the paradigm. An ancient greek philosopher from the 3rd century BC (don't quote me on the time period) is credited with it's founding. Evolution was at work long before Darwin. In fact Darwins Grandfather (Erasmus Darwin) was an Evolutionist.

To say something in your heart is poetically symbolic. It means to believe it with all your heart. Didn't you ever take an English 102 class?

Re: The Fool
Oh please do start a thread with this "blatant evidence" that God exists. We'll see just who is ignorant.

But somehow I think you'll just get more insulting, not less, when the truth comes out.

Actually there are reports of "dragons" and dinosaur like creatures in the Congo that sound very much like triceratops. Keep an open mind and let the Scriptures be your guide.

In reference to the congo, it turned out that they remembered being around rhinoceroses when their tribe was in a savannah like habitat. When they saw pictures of the rhino they said that is what their legends were talking about.

Re: 65 million years..
"almost identical" -- "unchanged"

You answered your own question in one way.

The other answer isn't so obvious if you don't actually understand evolutionary theory. The can be selective pressure to stay the same you know. Mutations are a source of change but selection can weed them out.

I am not calling anyone names.

No, you're saying "You fool!", and therefore, liable to the fire of hell. The Bible says so.

How long has the science community deemed the Wollemi Pine extinct? And now we find that it is alive a well, growing in Australia. Enough said there....

Hardly enough said. What does the presence of a modern species of Wollemi Pine have to do with the Bible being true? Does the Bible mention the Wollemi Pine?

Evolution was at work long before Darwin.

Well, that's certainly true. In fact evolution has been at work for about a billion years so far. Refreshing of you to admit this.

I'm kidding. I know what you meant. Nonetheless, evolution as a scientific theory did not exist before Darwin, because he was he first to propose a natural mechanism for the process. Therefore scientists weren't making scientific conclusions from the theory at the time you implied they were, making you wrong.

Is it, indeed?

And why do you think that is? Might it be because primitive folks thought that the heart was the seat of the mind? Might it be because the people who wrote the bible were similarly ignorant?

Yes, we use it poetically now - I doubt very much the person who wrote your quote did.

quote:
Think about this...were dinosaurs taken on Noah's Ark??

Yes, dinosaurs were animals, so Noah did bring dinosaurs on the Ark, but only land dinosaurs. Sea and air dinosaurs may have been left out in the air and water for only a few to survive the harsh effects of the flood. In reference to the size of many dinosaurs, remember that that all Noah needed were two very young, and therefore small dinosaurs of each kind to fit on te ark so that they will only grow into their larger sizes after they are back on land. Based on endless human accounts throughout human history, I feel it's safe to say that dinosaurs lived alongside humans not too long ago, and some, even if fewer, still do.

quote:
Funny then, that two things are true:

1) People with cameras live all over the Earth, on every continent, and yet nobody has any pictures of dinosaurs.

Yes people do live with cameras all over the world, but no, it is not true at all that nobody has any pictures of dinosaurs. Many pictures are often dismissed as edited or hoax. Out of the many pictures that claim to contain the Lock Ness "Monster", at least some of them are prone to be pictures of what acually lives in that lake. There is still speculation over whether this

is a whale or a dinosuar, but either one is very possible. Moreover, is it not possible that the dinosaurs that still exist today just tend to avoid humans or human populated areas, as many animals do? There is still a large portion of this earth that people don't occupie or see.

quote:

2) Scientists concluded that dinosaurs represented an extinct taxa of organisms before Charles Darwin published The Origin of Species.

Back then many scientists didn't have the knowledge of the many places around the world where dinosuars are reported. Transportation and communication back then was just a ton slower than it is now.
