Re: Welcome to EvC
The mere fact that they spend inordinate amounts of time attempting to dissuade you in your faith coupled with the fact that many of them turn rabid against Christians speaks very loudly that there is still part of them that wants to believe, and in certain respects, do still believe.
I'm calling you on that. Substantiate your charge by providing links to several posts where atheists are "rabid against Christians". It is my impression that the atheists here are mainly defending evolution against the disinformation coming from the creationist camp. I see very little in the way of atheists attempting to persuade Christians to give up their religion, and none that I would characterize as "rabid".

Re: Welcome to EvC
But if you must know, I've met quite alot of hostilities on EvC, just not nearly as much as my former forum.
My recollection is that those "hostilities" had to do with your dubious science arguments, not with your religion.

Re: Welcome to EvC
My main question was why atheists give recognition to the notion of God if they claim to not believe in Him?
Most of them pay no attention to the notion of God, until they are confronted by an attempt to impose religion on them.
And why would many of them get angry at the mere prospect of such Being existing?
Evidence please (of such alleged anger)!
Doesn't that seem irrational to you?
It sure does. So why are you falsely attributing such irrational behavior to atheists?
My point is, if you really want to believe in the 19th century notion, "God is dead," then don't talk about Him.
The atheists I know don't talk about him unless is forced by theists.

What would constitute imposition in your mind?
When they knock on the door, and start preaching the moment I open the door, that's imposition. When religion (creationism) is put into the science curriculum, that's imposition. When AA sued the city of Zion, Illinois over their city seal, that too was imposition.
I guess I could donwload pictures of my vehicle when it was 'keyed' because I have a 'Calvary Chapel' sticker on my car. What was I thinking? I shouldn't have imposed. I also suppose I could download pictures of my car that had a pint of urine and spit on the door because I have a Calvary Chapel sticker on the back window, if only I had taken a picture of the offense. What was i thinking? How dare I impose my beliefs?
I have had tires slashed, eggs broken on my car, antennas snapped. I don't jump to conclusions as to why this might have been done.
Does that seem like rational behavior to you?
Your jumping to conclusions sure seems irrational.
And for the umteenth time, I'm not implicating all atheists.
What a cop out. You are attributing such behavior to atheists as a class. Go back and read your own posts in this thread.
Ah yes... I'm sorry that I have accosted you and placed you in my God-lair where I incessently torture your eardrums with Scripture. The whole pity-party thing is wearing thin.
Dishonest rhetoric.

Re: Wow!
Can the following statment be proven false:
God exists.
No. The statement does not say anything testable, therefore cannot be proven false.
If not, why not? If it can, can the Law of Contradiction do it?
There is no contradiction inherent in the simple statement "God exists", although people do often come to contradictory conclusions on the basis of that statement.

Re: Welcome to EvC
"Irreducibly complex" isn't really a scientific term. It's a term that creationists and ID proponents have attempted to inject into science. Your argument is really one that the ID proponents should be using against themselves
And a welcome to evcforum for you, too, foxjoe.
