Excellent book. I can't recommend it enough, especially for novices in the hominid fossil debate.

Heh. It's on my shelves, looked through but not as yet read But then, at last count I've close to 2000 books at home, and only one life... (Some look at my post count at Infidels and conclude 'no life' in fact, but they're just grumble grouches .)
Also fascinating for beginners is Fairweather Eden, about the Boxgrove excavations. Great for showing the archaeology side of things especially. (No, I've not read that either, yet, properly at least. But hey, I'm currently ploughing through Jenny Clack's Gaining Ground, which recoups some of my credibility I hope .)
