IC is not relevant for another reason. At its very heart, IC is about the exploitation of scientific ignorance. It plays upon that which we do not know in a vain attempt to claim it can never be known. The atom was once considered irreducibly complex but then science discovered it was composed of smaller parts that gave each atom its 'identity'. These smaller parts were also considered irreducibly complex until it was shown that the smaller particles are made of different flavored quarks that give the smaller parts their identity. My only hope is that Behe does not teach what he preaches. It is dangerous to teach young scientists that a problem has no solution. Irreducible complexity can be reduced to scientific ignorance and Behe should be embarrassed to promote such nonsense to make a buck and a book tour.CheersJoe Meert

Irreducible complexity preys upon scientific ignorance. Some buy into the argument hook, line and sinker. Others are able to see through the smoke screen and realize that ID/IC is just a backdoor for creationists (see Intelligent design ).CheersJoe Meert

JM: Given that Behe cannot help his case with such an example, it is unlikely that a non-scientist like JP can even come close. ID assumes ID without evidence for ID. ID is perhaps one of the best examples of pseudoscience in the new century. If all things are designed, then there is no reference for 'non-designed' and ID becomes practically useless as a scientific enterprise.Cheers
