Re: A topic warning
hi, remember me? you're the ones who keep insisting that evolution demands atheism and we keep telling you how idiotic that is.

I don't know that I would call it "idiotic." There is an argument.

But to get to the topic, I don't think an advertising campaign for evolution would work very well.

Re: A topic warning
no. there isn't. evolution has absolutely nothing to do whatsoever with the idea of god except to say that nothing that is was created ex nihlo as is.

There's a "moral argument," although it might be flawed. I'm speaking of the conventional Western God. And then there's philsophical materialism (everything is physical) which would seem to go along with evolution (that strikes a blow into notions of "soul").
And then there's the factor of determinism.

No, I would not call such considerations "idiotic."

Re: No Need for Advertising
the concept of evolution is too benign in addition to being too self-evident, to require advertising to most rational beings.

I don't know how "benign" it is: I find it rather radical and earth-shaking myself, once you grasp all its implications. But on the other hand when some product is advertised excessively, I begin to have grave doubts about it. Also, if one handed over the idea to an advertising agency, I find it hard to imagine what they might come up with that would work.

Great, I'll start a new thread.

Please don't.

Re: No new thread?
Perhaps you can explain why not? It was a bit odd to make the statement at all. To make it without explanation is even more so.

I had more important matters to discuss with Schraf than this nonsense with Randman.

Re: No new thread?
Had you been acting in a more responsible, caring way towards me, robin, I might feel some compulsion to pay you more attention

Ha, ha, ha.

Well, at least iano won't be jealous.

Re: No new thread?
Often times, when two people are attracted to each other but cannot have each other they fight. Its the only way they can express those deep passions

Yeah, you might have a point there.
