Re: Anglagard v S1WCs = slaughter
Heartily seconded. I hope that once the debate, such as it is, is concluded, we can archive those posts as a "must read" on this website. Classic point-by-point refutations. I'll add that I'm looking forward to S1WC's response.

Omni Showcase

Message: Determinism and indeterminacy (post 4)
In some of the most inspired and creative writing I've seen in a long time, Omni "showcases" how an analogy, taken to its logical conclusion, proves the original intent of the person who used it to be completely erroneous. A sample:
quote:
Omni writes:
A man's genes, too, have been beads on a great abacus over the eons, their living products, men, discovering the odds of surviving the great predators in direct encounters and recording the results via the presence or absence of the genes that produced, respectively, successful or failed strategies.
I only wish I could write as clearly as this. It's almost a shame the rhetoric is embedded in a discussion with one of the forum's more, hmmm, problematic posters. I don't suggest it is wasted - after all, we all can read and enjoy it - but I have to say it's too bad the recipient will probably be unable to appreciate it as it deserves.
