Make your January POTM nominations here.
Format
Author: author's name
Forum: the forum where posted
Thread: the thread title
Message: the particular posted message number
It is always good if your nomination includes a link to the nominated article, and a short comment on why you are nominating (or seconding).
As always, this is not a thread for debates. Posts should be limited to nomination, seconds, acceptance statements by nominee.

It wasn't on topic, or especially well written, but nothing on the Internet has come so dangerously close to converting me as those last two paragraphs.
I must have let my guard down.

Percy, at "A Whale of a Tale" topic
Name: Percy
Forum: Miscellaneous Topics in Creation/Evolution
Thread: A Whale of a Tale
Post #: 136
Most of the message is nothing special, but I think the opening paragraph was:
Well, okay, let us grant your view that there is a wide range of opinion about evolution within ID. Some IDists accept evolution, some reject it. That's so wide a range that these two groups could have little in common beyond the belief that God was involved. Can you explain to us how a field that both accepts and rejects evolution could possess any scientific validity? Or credibility, either?
Especially one sentence there:
That's so wide a range that these two groups could have little in common beyond the belief that God was involved.
The above quoted is pretty marginal to the murky theme of the topic. Perhaps it deserves an "Intelligent Design" topic of its own.

Nuggin at "A Whale of a Tale"
In Message 156 Nugging does a great job of describing conditions and exaples of how species might evolve and what we might later see in terms of fossils.
This is one of the best posts I've had the pleasure reading here at EvC.

A competant rebuttal. Points out weaknesses and errors in my/and others arguments. I think it's a great post and it's telling that such a rebuttal could not be presented by NSBF.
I will be revising my initial possition based on PS's post.

Re: Pink Sasquatch "Rodent speciation and Noah's Ark."
A genuine thanks, Yaro.
I think you should also be seriously commended for nominating a post that was very critical of your own post. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do that before in the forum.
(I thought about suggesting your POTM nomination for a POTM nomination for that reason, but was worried that it would cause a tear in the time-space continuum and destroy us all.)

idontlikeforms and arachnophilia
I am nominating the debate between idontlikeforms and arachnophilia on could moses have written the first five books of the bible. This for a series of posts, with idontlikeforms defending mosaic authorship, and arachnophilia (and others) arguing for multiple authorship. The first post by idontlikeforms is Message 63, and the first response by arachnophilia is Message 64. I suggest reading the thread, at least from message 63.
Author: idontlikeforms
The Bible: Accuracy and Inerrancy
could moses have written the first five books of the bible
Message 63
Author: arachnophilia
The Bible: Accuracy and Inerrancy
could moses have written the first five books of the bible
Message 64
Reason for nomination: the debate clearly contrasts the methodology of evangelical scholarship with that of secular scholarship (basically the scientific method).

In Message 12 gives a classic example of Trial and Error as a way of advancing Science as well as the limitations found in such and effort.

General praise for the "Did Jesus exist, Part II" topic
Name: Percy, Faith, and others
Forum: The Bible: Accuracy and Inerrancy
Thread: Did Jesus exist, Part II
Post #: Various
As I prepare this message, the topic is at message 136. The topic running in the "activity meter pegged" zone, however, it still seems to be an exceptionally well done discussion.
Kudos for all involved.

This message, one in a series of fine posts, starts with a sentence (well, fragment actually) to die for:
docpotato quotes iano, then writes:
It is obviously not God people are hearing, but themselves.
Says the Baptist to the Catholic, the Catholic to the Muslim, the Muslim to the Hindu, the atheist to them all.
Neat.

Iano in the Marriage Thread

Message: Message 292
Iano is holding is ground against the same kind of poor tactics that we "evos" get so distressed about creationists using all the time. His argumment is logically consistent and he is IMO dominating that thread.
