Was it the spelling error and the strange use of "surly" that made you say that? Although ashamed because of those errors, I am also a bit bemused.

Actually, it was excellent, especially the rhyming of "vexed" and "text." Very original.
I just felt like teasing you.

Well, certain people have not had the sense to stop doing OT messages
This is the "Post of the Month" forum. A place for POTM nominations (and seconds?) and thank yous. Everything else is very much off-topic.

*Sigh* Whereas I'm reduced to taunting and insulting randman, mark24 manages to write a well-composed post explaining the fallacies of randman's "missing fossil argument". I'm glad someone is keeping a cool head (although it can't be all that much fun).
I've been impressed by this thread in general (well, much of it) and by Mark in particular and especially this post.

NosyNed and Roxrkool praised the message, but did they give it a POTM nomination?

This topic just got mentioned (Thank you, AdminNWR) in a new "Proposed New Topic".
Message 1 was almost 3 months ago, but dammit, nobody gave it a POTM nomination.
I think this messaage may even be outstanding relative to other POTM's - A gem.

Thank you Moose!
That's most generous of you, I means a lot to me to have you say that.
Thanks!

Did you know that most of the time your computer is doing nothing? What if you could make it do something really useful? Like helping scientists understand diseases? Your computer could even be instrumental in finding a cure for HIV/AIDS. Wouldn't that be something? If you agree, then join World Community Grid now and download a simple, free tool that lets you and your computer do your share in helping humanity. After all, you are part of it, so why not take part in it?

That is a gem by Parasomnium. I missed it first time around. I've seen the point made in passing, but never explicated with such magisterial thoroughness.

Holy damned cow!!!
This is one of the most outstanding posts I have ever read, right up there with Silas's best. Thank you, Moose, for digging out this gem, and thank you Parasomnium for a post of stunning clarity. Nominations for POTY anyone?

Gosh.
"Gem", "magisterial thoroughness", "stunning clarity", I wish some people in my non-digital surroundings would start talking about me in those terms...
Thank you all very much.
