"You can safely assume that you've created God in your own image when it turns out that God hates all the same people you do."--Anne Lamott, U.S. writer/speaker
For anyone interested in improving their ability to control their urges to argue poorly...(and this includes me)...I send you to... "Conversational Cheap Shots"
http://www.vandruff.com/art_converse.html
Tue Mar.16 I heard Focus on the Family State of the Family: Spring 2004 could be at () Here are some of my thoughts:
Marriages (the HETEROSEXUAL ones) are at a 50+% divorce rate; (and you call them Holy).
If they are Holy, have you Christians ever stood up at a person's second [unholy] wedding (even at a Christian's second) when the preacher says "if there are any here who opposes this marriage, speak now..." to defend your precious Holiness of Marriage? (You know who you are. You've been to one or two or three or four or five of those weddings. Never. Never have you defended it "righteously" "in" "the" "name" "of" "Jesus." Never ever ever. Because that's how really holy it is. Not. This is just another power struggle. "Do as we say." [respect marriage] "Not as we do." [disrespect marriage])
So, as [hetero] marriage is at about 50%, what if this "Jesus" guy had only met 50% of the criteria for being the Christ? Would you consider him Holy, or some mostly-forgotten ancient long-haired hippy-freak?
What if your car only worked 50% of the time? Would you call it a great [read ‘Holy’] car?
What if God said He'd only watch over you half the time? And only know how many hairs on your head to about 50% accuracy? Considering Him all-knowing, would you think He cared about you?
What if your bed was so uncomfortable that you could only sleep on it 50% of the time? Would you consider it a great (read ‘Holy’) mattress?
"They know that this is the linchpin [of dragging society down]..." (~19:45 min. into the program)
-W.T.F.?? I thought that the linch-pin was 2004 years ago? I thought God won then and everything everafter was just waiting to spike the football? (I guess the games not over. Maybe the Christians haven’t won and THIS is why they are so rabid about their power-struggles and keeping people down!!!)
----
And this question we hear every now and then (elsewhere); "What if there were only gay guys on an island? How would they propagate?" Well, America is not an island, and there are women here.
----
I heard it said that, "the gays (or other alternative types) have no right for those kinds of marriage."
-And to what do you point to as a basis for granting or recognizing a "right"? I see no "right" that applies to heterosexual marriage that precludes homosexual marriage.
-"Cuando el amor no es locura, no es amor."

Do you actually hear this argument? I mean, what if there were only straight guys on an island, would they be able to propagate any better? Maybe this is just worded badly, but this is dumb on so many levels.
