This is a spinoff from the thread Message 1. It is meant as a place where Atheists can ask questions and receive a reasoned, non-confrontational answer from theists. It is not meant as a place to debate then questions or answers.
Please feel free to ask questions but try to remember the spirit of the thread.

For the benefit of both members and lurkers ...
could you go into greater detail on your quotation as shown below?
For instance I am in a position to discuss question 2, {"2. Why is the Nativity story different in each of the Gospels?"} while many Christians would mainly be familiar with the hybrid mishmash of the two stories that is usually encountered.
It is clear that the two Nativity accounts (Matthew and Luke) are different and incompatible stories. Matthew's in particular shows clear signs of legendary development and it is quite possible that both are stories that grew up around the belief that Jesus was born in Bethlehem (a belief that could easily be untrue).
There are many indications of a redaction that specifically searched older records and then modified the contemporary tales to fit. But that still leaves the issue of what was changed and why the changes were necessary.
For the benefit of our readers could you go into greater detail?

Stepping into Admin mode for a moment.
Just as in the Creationist Friendly thread, the goal is for discussion to show points of view. Please, try to stick to that and not let this thread degenerate into attacks on individuals.
Question a position, but try to maintain civility.

Mike. Please. This is a Q&A thread. It's not designed as a place to ambush someone on a personal level.
The goal is for Atheists to ask questions and Theists to respond. It's not a place to decide what someone should believe or to change someones mind, it's meant to help parties understand what it is the other believes.
PG has said he believes something and also that he will go no further trying to explain his beliefs or reasoning for those beliefs.
Fine, that satisfies all the conditions for this topic.
You are perfectly within your rights and the intent of this thread to respond by showing why YOU believe differently. You can also set limits on the extent and depth that you are willing to go in support of your belief.
But we're dealing with beliefs here folk, not science.
If we are going to get input from a variety of people it is not helpful when they see a personal attack as opposed to a discussion of the material.

just an admonishment.
I don't plan ANY action. Just in a thread like this, comments such as "That's your problem" serve no purpose and can only work to inhibit other people expressing their beliefs.
If you can, please try to support YOUR position proactively. Show why you behave or believe differently.
That's all I ask.
Thank you sir.

Cut it out!!!
I hope your delusions of grandeur are not too painful.
Such stements do NOTHING to further the coversation. I have told Mike to cut them out, now I'm telling you.
Discuss the content, not the person.
Frankly, if you are going to take part in these discussions you need to do better. Your tactic of running in, tossing in a firebrand and then when challeged, simply retreating into some protective coccoon is NOT debate or discussion.
If you are going to insert a comment, be prepared to discuss and support your statements. If you're not going to do so, then don't bother making the initail assertion.

Re: Cut it out!!!
I have clearly stated and so from scripture why, at a certain point, I decline to continue in 'discussion'.
You appear to use this consistently as a get out of discussion card. If you are going to participate in discussions then such behavior is inappropriate.
You are always free to simply not post or, as you put it, leave this forum. That is totally up to you. But if you are going to post in threads you will be expected to participate. That does not mean tossing in an aside and when it is questioned or additional input is requested, running away.
