I don't know how far I can continue the initial discussion without knowing more about what quantum physicists are trying to explain
If you would like a primer to learn something about the physics of quantum theory I would recommend the Vega science lectures at this website. The speaker in this particular video{Feynman} will probably allow you to get an idea of the strangeness of the concepts that underlie Quantum mechanics.
