Tas Walker says it's most likely a natural rock formation.
And with the claim of unidentified "tests" that have not been produced "proving" that it is petrified wood it looks like another Wyatt-style fraud..

I'd guess that it's a calcite vein. Which would be consistent with the rock being shale.
