Re: FYI General Reply
I'm saying that the Bible can't contradict itself. If it did, this argument would get nowhere, because every time two Bible verses seemed to contradict itself, we would automatically assume that the Bible contradicts each other and both views are correct, and we couldn't prove anything (let's not go postmodern, shall we?). There is one passage in 1 Corinthians where Paul gives his own advice, but he specifically says that it's his word, not the Lord's. And even then, his own words still don't contradict the Bible. Why would God let his own Scriptures contradict itself?
1 Corinthians 7:6
"I say this as a concession, not as a command."
1 Corinthians 7:10
"To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband."
1 Corinthians 7:12
"To the rest I say this (I, not the Lord): If any brother has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to live with him, he must not divorce her."
Now I'm still going to allow some arguments (ie: what is and isn't part of the Bible, what is the punishment for not believing in Biblical inerrancy), but I definitely had to make that assumption about Biblical inerrancy.
