Well, I have personal experience with him. I believe I have evidence in my life of a person who has come along side me and helped me, transformed me. Someone I communicate with and have a relationship with. What I accept is that I can't prove this to you scientifically. All I have is the Bible and my own word to back me up.

The duty of a theist is to nurture the seed of truth and love in the society he lives in.
To share with him the divine truth to the ones whom lack in faith, and enrich their spirit, so that they shall taste the sweetness of life, and clear the clouds above their heads, so that the light will open their hearts.
Thus they shall once again see, and live , together, not apart.
Sincerely, Delshad

I disagree. I have met far more arrogant idiots than I have arrogant intelligent people.

I have to agree.

I'd have to disagree, I'd say it's just about even both ways. I think most of us are too arrogant to see our own arrogance. Intelligence aside.

No way man. I quite see my arrogance.
Maybe it works like insanity? If you think you are insane, you're not?

Arrogance is another matter for another day.

This is perhaps a testable hypothesis and there may actually be data on these characterstics. Though I doubt there would be a behavioral study comparing self impressions between geniuses and idiots, I could imagine a study of say high IQ versus average IQ people for a host of different social characteristics...anybody know if this has been done academically?

not that I've been able to find so far. I've kinda been looking. Unfortunately I've involved myself in so many discussions I can't put the proper amount of research into any one area.

So why the need for so much discussion as to the meaning of many passages? I often see Biblical quotes within this forum followed by, "What this means is that..."
I would say the Bible has been written in such a way that the individual invariably reads his/her own interpretation between the lines. Surely this causes more confusion to the un-wise?

Nope,
It confuses those who would rely on their own human wisdom, believing that is in fact wisdom, instead of studying the word and praying. God provides the understanding as it is needed. Through prayer. See I have a completely different view of what wisdom is. My view is in the book of James. It's a very short book close to the end of the New Testament if you want to check it out.

This site summarises several studies done on the correlation between education and religiousity. I haven't checked the refs but its quite an interesting read nonetheless.
It concludes:
The consensus here is clear: more intelligent people tend not to believe in religion. And this observation is given added force when you consider that the above studies span a broad range of time, subjects and methodologies, and yet arrive at the same conclusion.
Granted that education does not necessarily mean high IQ, but I'm willing to bet money / limbs there's a correlation.

Blind faith in other words, regardless of reason or knowledge.

Maybe you're listening to your own wisdom, not God. How do you differentiate? Does any part of you function independently of God? I always get the feeling you daren't show any individuality for fear of enternal hell.
