I have nothing against male circumcision, &
everything against the barbaric female-mutilation-that-passes-for-circumcision, but this seems a very strange rationale to me indeed, especially as your friend thought the recovery period as being painful, why not just keep the little bugger & not have the pain of it?. Having pain is not "harmless", IMHO.
