I guess what I don’t understand is why Alabama would write this into their constitution if it was contrary to the US Constitution. Maybe they can get away with it because the 14th amendment says states may make no law to abridge privileges but perhaps state constitutions can?
I think the more likely explanation is that nobody in Alabama is going to challenge it, and if they do, nobody else in Alabama is going to listen to them.
