The thing is, if nobody owned anything, where could He stay? Surely some people needed to own homes.
Why does the home need to be owned by anyone?
Phat writes:
Sounds a bit globalist (and socialist/liberal) to me. In fact, I feel that the reason you don't like my documentary is because it is conservative leaning and expresses worry about Islam taking over Europe...which apparently to you relativists poses no problem. Perhaps the irony of this whole discussion is the meaning of what it means to be and represent Christianity. For many of us who were raised as Christian Nationalists, it was easy to proudly proclaim Jesus from a position of strength. When the Yanks and the Brits(traditionally the main idea of "the West") advanced the cause of freedom, it was under the guise of Christianity.
No, it is because it is nothing but the classic Christian Cult of Ignorance tactic of taking pieces parts out of context and tossing them together to make a salad bar and claiming it is a documentary.
It's obvious that just like evidence, documentary is another word you do not understand.
Phat Nazi Germany was "Christian" and proudly so. Fascist Italy was "Christian" and proudly so.
nd finally you once again confirm the fact that you are simply a Christian because you were born and raised as a Christian Nationalist.
Pitiful. Deplorable. Embarrassing. And likely incurable.
AbE: Missed this silliness
Phat writes:
If Islam actually became the dominant global; religion, I strongly feel that there would be friction with Christians...those who were left.
Very likely with SOME Christians; the ignorant and those disconnected from reality or evidence based thinking.
Christianity and Islam are both Abrahamic religions that worship the same God and hold almost all of the same belief sets. But both religions are filled with ignorant people who simply must have a belief hat THEY are something special, something selected directly by Allah and the other is just heretical.
Fortunately though not all Christians and a Muslims are that ignorant. The reality though is that throughout most of history and even today the two religious people do get along and cooperate and learn from each other.
Remember, if it were not for Islam we would NOT be having this discussion and so called Western Civilization would not even exist.

Surely you are not asking this question. If your only answer is "The State" you are more clueless than I thought.

Re: Doing What Jesus Says
I don’t think anyone is saying you have to give up all, Phat. All but the most diehard leftmost blowhards seek to deny the human need to possess personal items and personal space. I don’t think that is what your Jesus was asking.
How much do you want to follow Jesus?
If not to forsake all possession, preach in the streets, and beg for your survival, then what?
How about what the message really meant?
Quote from Jesus:
"Help those in need whenever you can, however you can, to the limit of your heart’s capability. If you don’t take strangers into your home, feed clothe bathe them, it’s ok. Just be helpful when and how you can. And for God’s sake try not to hurt anybody."
In other words, don’t be shitheads to each other.
Multi-billionaires do not need to own a dozen palaces each with its own palatial yacht while you slave away in middle-class America struggling to survive. That is the human tragedy liberals seek to address, Phat. We want those milti-billionaires to pay up, forgo the next $100 Trillion, and pay for universal healthcare, subsidized education, and about a dozen other things this species needs. We don’t want to own your home, your mind or your dog ... or your dog's home or your dog's mind.

From worldometers
It seems that the 168 million spent today in the US could have helped the 27,000 who starved to death today IF the US was in any way actually a "Christian" nation. From my outside, non-American, atheist view it's clear that the US if far, far from "Christian".

The logistics would be tough, but this is the Country that put men on the moon over 50 years ago. I'm totally with you on this one NosyNed !
(And I reckon the UK should chip in too (as well as feeding their own poor, instead of having cast iron c***s like Rees-Mogg pretend we don't have children here who go hungry)).

Could there be any greater conceit, than for someone to believe that the universe has to be simple enough for them to be able to understand it ?

Phat, you still miss the point.
Are the roads shared fairly? Do some folk rent homes they stay in fore many many years, often decades? Are some folk vagabonds that do move to and fro on the Earth?
Why shouldn't homes be a common property so that there are no homeless except by choice? Why not build homes using tax dollars that then are made available to those in need? Did you know that to a very small extent even a nation as backwards and uncivilized as the USA does already do that?

Home Sweet ?
Why shouldn't homes be a common property so that there are no homeless except by choice?
What would happen to the homes that are owned, were such an edict put in place? Would the values hold? You are talking of socialist theories in the midst of capitalist realities.

The issue is the right to spend other peoples money for them. This is one reason why7 politics is at a perpetual deadlock. Half of the people disagree with your definition of *should*.

What Jesus Said vs What We Do
Just for the record...before I rant..I want everyone to know what I face as of today.
  • My 97 year old mother caught Covid. She is about to die. She refuses to eat or drink and her living will states that she prefers not to be kept alive by any mechanical or extraordinary means. They are giving her small doses of morphine and allowing her her wishes. We talk when we can. She is basically just asleep.
  • My Niece and her entire family tested positive. They live two states away.
  • I have been stressed out and recently felt unusual symptoms all at once so I called in to work and probably will get tested in a couple of days.
    AZPaul3 writes:

I want to be used by Him to help others. Perhaps I don't believe that every *true* follower needs to give up everything literally. ringo can argue until the sacred cows come home, but I'm not falling for an argument from a man who has ceased considering belief as relevant. Let him find answers from the source rather than from testing and observing me.
How about what the message really meant?
    I agree.

    Really?
Are you a Christian or aren't you?
Do you believe that what the Bible says that Jesus said is true or don't you?
Do you believe that you should or must follow what the Bible says that Jesus taught or don't you?
This isn't rocket science nor brain surgery. Either you truly believe or you don't.
Your constant weasel-wording for ways to get out of what Jesus rather explicitly taught only demonstrates that, no, you actually do not believe all that silly Christian stuff.
So why do you still pretend to be a Christian?
    ABE:
So then the bottom line is whether you actually what you claim to believe. Or not.
All your arguments so far tell us that, no, you do not actually believe any of it.
So why don't you just come to grips with the plain truth?
