I believe that God exists. Strongly. Even if my notions of Him were incorrect, I do not see Him ceasing to exist since I did not create Him. He is not a construct of my imagination---although confirmation bias has my notions of God boxed into my logic (or illogic!
i agree whether our views of god make sense or not have nothing to do with whether god exists, now on the other hand, our views of god do undermine what people think of god though, being that if people claim that they represent god in some way and it makes no sense to people in how they show god.
theres the question of whether or not they truely know god. i mean if iano is right then god does things that undermine the idea that he loves us more than anyone ever would, but as people argue, if god does love us why would we be thrown into hell, if he's willing to forgive us for anything - this is another group not iano, since i've read his reasonings that god does bad things for reasons we can't understand
its a hard thing to accept if different groups say different things about god and they disagree with eachother and call outside groups false christians
the thing is what mankind sees as gods attributes are a construct of the mind, of the culture and time period, not god himself. god is pretty much unknowable imo, not because we can't understand him, but because our brains just donot have the ability to grasp all of what god is
i found an interesting book, forgot the name , but it gives insight to why god appears in israel to take on differing views of things as time goes on, many people wouldn't agree with this but, many prophets put a spin on things to condemn what they found offensive by saying god doesn't like it, so people would stop doing things
god in genesis is pretty different from the exodus and zech or isaiah
