They're all in on it. The roofers, the neighbours, your relatives, and the home-owners association. It's one big conspiracy. The only one who doesn't know is you. You may be right. It may have been like a gift to me because I'm so wonderful. After all, I was glad the stump was gone.
You did it yourself in a drunken stupor, in the wee hours of the night. Now that you are sober, you don't remember anything about it. (You are sober, aren't you?) It would be rather difficult to remove a stump with a shovel when one is drunk. Yes, I am sober--dangerously sober.
Your wife reared your car into it. She had the car repaired and the stump removed to cover up the evidence. If she reared a car into this stump which was thirty feet away from the driveway, then SHE must have been drunk out of her mind. She would have had to have been so at about 10:00 am because it would taken that long to get all that done by the time I got home. I'll go with theory #1.

Or, your wife or somebody had it removed and isn't letting on just so they can mess with your brain.

Or, your wife or somebody had it removed and isn't letting on just so they can mess with your brain. No, I think it's something they did because I'm so wonderful. Since joining evc, I've learned the value of boasting. I always thought it was ill-mannered, but obviously I was raised in a barn. Now I know the rationale of boasting comments. If one boasts, one shows that one loves oneself and one has self-esteem. Now, if you cannot love yourself, you cannot love others. This I have learned here on evc. I ought to have taken a course in Pop Psychology 101, but I failed to do that, and so I learned it belatedly here. Many posters have solemnly affirmed that one must love oneself, and that this indeed is the key to the Golden Rule, and I am doing that now. I hug myself frequently. So I think you will agree that I am making progress.

Just for the record, not that you were wondering, demons aren't reputed to remove stumps of trees or get very involved in the physical world for that matter.
Does your wife consider it a mystery too?

ABE: Would this qualify as a religious experience? Only if by faith you believe that God took care of that stump somehow. ABE, did you check with the town services? DPW? Edited by riVeRraT, : No reason given.

You said that you got chills. That is exciting, that is thrilling. I love when you tell me how I feel, it's so funny.
Right. The coincidence gave you the woo-woo thrill. woo-woo?Where do you get this stuff? Hey, I'm not the one casually talking about the poor guy being possessed by evil "spirits of murder" as if there was nothing anybody could do about it. There is nothing casual about what he did, or what I felt. It's down right scary stuff, to be taken very seriously. Whether it's our own minds playing games, or spirits, it's no joke.
Oh, so he WAS getting help? Medical help? Doesn't that make your case for the woo-woo evil spirits a lot weaker? No it doesn't, it's one of those coinsidence things, that I find hard to explain. That doesn't mean there isn't a perfectly logical explanation for it. If you would have noticed, I don't take myself to seriously when I joked about post-hoc reasoning. That means I am not dead set on what the actual explanation is. It's just the kind of thing that makes you go mmmmm, and keeps me alert. It's not like I saw a spirit, or an angel, or I hear voices. I prayed about it, and basically it was left up to me to decide.
More unpleasant that killing yourself, rat? Hind sight is 20-20, thanks for nothing.
You are not open minded; you are credulous. You are gullible. no.
You had a bad day, as you explained. You were feeling down about all of the things that were going badly in your life. That happens to everybody at some time or another, pretty much. It wasn't the thought of commiting suicide to solve my over inflated problems (in my own head) that scared me, it was the vision associated with it that freaked me out. Sorry, I do not believe this originated in my own mind. It lasted about 1-2 seconds, and I have nver even thought of anything remotely close to what I saw, and felt. Whats your hell? Do answer, I know, it's talking to me on the internet for eternity.

Does your wife consider it a mystery too? Yes, she does. She came home that day, and said, "How did you manage to get rid of that stump?"

You and I are opposites concerning the woo-woo phenomenon.
Can we conclude that there are no legitamete mysteries in life that science cannot explain? To you, it is a challenge, for it verifies your own self control. I need self control as well, yet always await a parental figure (such as God) to step in and help me. Perhaps many charismatic Christians are immature.

Who cut down the tree? I did, some time before. But I didn't dig up that stump.
