What Does the Second Coming Entail?

Perhaps we are leaving out one thing. Bob expects you to put aside your agenda and love Him unconditionally. He won't make you do that, but you won't enjoy the club unless and until you trust Bob.The first step is meeting Bob and the second step is trusting Bob.Once that ice is broken, you will want to join the club!

Theoretically, your first impressions of Bob would not be tainted by second hand accounts of His eternal behavior(or interpretations thereof) we don't want to toss the Virgin Baby out with the 40 day and night bathwater, now do we?Seriously, you bring up a good point. Just WHO is this God, anyway?Do you really think that people will be judged at this 2nd Coming based on how they respond to the God described in the Bible and His 1st appearance?What of the ones who never heard the story? Will they be given more slack or will they be cruelly and massively deported to fiery torment?

The nightclub exists whether or not you believe that it does. You just dont have to visit. This nightclub, (bad analogous example, btw)
means more than simply a "good time." I can see the argument where some of you emphasize that Christianity need not be an exclusive club. God will have mercy on whom He will have mercy, yet He makes it clear that He loves ALL of us and that we are the ones locking ourselves out of the relationship.Perhaps the idea of having to surrender our cherished freethinking is irksome. I know that even as a Christian, I occasionally chaff at realizing that God is not exclusively focused on ME but that He would rather that I start helping others instead of waiting around for more handouts.

People would never turn Bob down who have met Him. The ones who spurn Him because of the button-man will not be judged based on Iano. (his personality, and whatnot.) Say that I'm the new button-man and am trying to go and sooth disgruntled prospects. My pitch is different. I invite everybody to the club whether they care to get to know Bob or not.If Bob is anything like His reputation, He will be known sooner or later. Then people can draw their own conclusions based on Bob and not on Iano or myself.

The problem with Hank. is the author of the site. ( Reverend James Huber.) I don't see him being a Reverand, by the way...unless he got an online ordination at that universalist church of relative oneness, or some similar place! He is a bit arrogant, (his right, I guess ) and asks rhetorical questions which DO have answers.To Wit: Its obvious. with God, nothing is impossible. Without God, lots of things are impossible. We coould even start a spinoff thread on Huger, but I gotta go to work!

Im sure Ian would assert that he talks with Bob on a daily basis.I've met Bob, IMHO and IMHB, and will say that there are no other clubs quite like His and no other owners quite like Him. You will know when you are to go to check out the club, but Bob usually likes to meet His guests beforehand. You will be receiving a personal call from Bob very soon. I'll leave it up to you two to arrange a meeting....let me know if I can help clear anything up.

Look at the History of human nature---specifically during times of war. I see no evidence of progressive humans but I DO see evidence of the same mistakes and imperfections being made by us time and time again.I can agree with you guys about the O.T. God as a mean and vengeful one, but if viewed in the context of a warlike people (who were not His puppets, by the way) I can accept some of the conclusions.
The Second Coming...if literal...will only happen after we progressive and enlightened humans go through another series of wars that will leave us questioning our moral fiber and purpose.Unless you think that without any sort of religion, we will all get along merrily and not fight any longer!

Lets steer this BACK towards the Original Topic, which was essentially discussing the Second Coming. We know how each other think---so there is little point in attempting to focus too much more energy in our dueling analogies...

The Second Coming assumes that Christ is real and that no amount of human information nor education will negate this fact.It is debateable as to whether an uneducated goat herder is able to connect with a living God. If we are atheists, of course the source of our contentions will be human education and knowledge.If we are believers, however, education and knowledge do not wipe God away...they just allow us to consider the implications of God upon humanity in this enlightened age that we now live in.
