schrafinator (what a beautiful yet strong name it is)
quote:
and yet, the prisons are full of believers, and the ratio of unbelievers in prison is lower than in the general population.
This country is one of the top civilization in the history of man in regards to percentage population in prison, and most, if not the overwhelming majority, of prison inmates are there because of our war on drugs. While I personally think that drugs are not good for you and me, I am still trying to decide whether people should go to prison for any drug related action at all. And because of this, I'm not sure if I agree that the number of believers in prison has anything to do with good verses bad people.
What I do know is that there are people I know who are selfish, conceited, unpleasant, stupid, etc. who are all contributing members of society simply because they are "christians." Some of them even go as far as admitting that without christianity they wouldn't have given to the less fortunate like they have. While I personally think it is rather childish to absolutely have an all powerful father figure with a whip watching over you for you to be a contributing, good member of society, if it works it works.
