Re: Death Threats
I was totally pissed off at one of the local radio stations here when the decision was passed down. The assholes were talking about how Tammy Kitzmiller was baking Christmas cookies when the press came knocking on her door to get her response to the news. They were like, "I expected her to be sacrificing babies or something, why the hell was she baking Christmas cookies, how can she think she is a Christian?" I called the general manager to complain, to no real avail. I still shake my head when I think about it. I live in PA, not too close to Dover, but close enough that the radio station I was listening to, this was local news for them.

Also remember that one rural town in PA does not represent the whole of the US. I think a lot of people don't realize how big this country is. I remember one time when my wife and I were living in NYC, we met a couple from London who had won a trip to NYC and were there for the weekend. They came with the plan to spend a day in New York, then were going to rent a car and 'check out California'. This was over a 4 day trip. We had to explain to them that its a 3-4 day drive just from New York to California.
So just because a small town in Rural PA had their heads firmly planted up their asses, doesn't mean that the universities that trained our aerospace engineers are teaching 14th century science. Its just an inappropriate generalization. I am not going to pretend that the whole event wasn't an embarassment to begin with or even that it ended very well (remember that the school board was voted out, but only by a close margin)
