Indeed a severe local flood, where perhaps all dry land that could be seen with the naked eye was covered, makes much more sense than the traditionally accepted interpretation.

You can gather animals from a region quite easily. Gathering animals from the entire Earth would have been an impossibility.

Most myths are fictionalized retellings of actual events, and it seems reasonable to approach the Flood myth from the same perspective.
