There you Go,YECs...biblical "evidence" of "flat earth beliefs"

Oh, so the obviously idiotic things like the flood and 6 day creation are to be taken extremely literally but the bleedingly obviously idiotic things like the flat earth and such are not to be taken extremely literally and only should be taken partially literally??

I'm surprised noone has explained this misconception yet. Yes, before the dark ages there were various cultures, or rather individuals within the various cultures, that knew the earth was a sphere. Ancient greek philosophers actually tried to calculate the circumference of the earth by using simple geometry.But remember that during the bronze age, which was when the OT was written, not everybody believed the same thing. Hell, even today not everybody believe the same thing. The majority of the US population seem to think the earth is 6,000 years old, the world was created in 6 days, and there was a world wide flood... and we're a product of Noah's family's incestuous acts.To say that "people knew the earth was a sphere before the dark ages" implying that everybody knew the earth was a sphere before the dark ages is just silly. You can't point to certain greek philosophers who believed the earth was a sphere and proudly say the people of ancient israel knew the earth was a sphere. It's like pointing out that the US has a kick ass navy therefore Mongolia has a kick ass navy. Just silly.

I think he was trying to imply that if the earth was an inch farther away from the sun that all life on earth would end as we know it, therefore there must be a god...

Space stations are in low orbits. It's like trying to see the whole house while having your face 2 inches away from its east side wall. You can't even see the entirety of the wall, let alone the house.

I can say with the utmost confidence that nobody here is a mind reader. I really really really wish I could read other people's minds through the internet. But I can't. Nobody can. We are, then, left with a form of communication that people have been using for ages: writing. If you can't communicate properly with words, then do not blame the rest of us for misinterpreting what you have to say.It is not nitpicking if we point out that 2+2!=5. When you've written "2+2=5" and go back and say "I didn't really mean it..." how can we possibly know that you didn't really mean it if it is written right in front of us that "2+2=5"?

Tell that to President Bush. He believes in the 6 day creation and flood stories.
