This and the Joshua 10:12 passage reflect a complete misunderstanding of solar system dynamics not to mention the interconnection of the fundamental forces of nature which is to be expected from the writings of primitive people.
Not to mention all this effort and suspension of the physical laws for what? So that Joshua could continue "killing them with a very great slaughter".
Why not just send a precise meteor hit with a lasting crater demonstrating God's divine justice? Or why not just interrupt the millivolt signals to the heart of these evil people?
It seems that if true this alleged god wanted the children of Israel to experience the joy of putting others to the sword - women, children, the aged. Imagine a being with such abilities and yet requires his loving subjects to experience the trauma of war - but there is truth in advertising as this God is a Man of War and the lord is his name.
I have never received a good response on why this supposed god of OT requires his subjects to become holy hitmen. This is the same primitive flawed thinking of the modern day Islamic sewerside bomber.

Re: Factual Errors in Bible

Yes, they do.
Rabbits do not chew cud but practice what is known as refection.
Refection which is the eating of specific pellets from their anus that are swallowed whole and NOT chewed.
The AiG is in error by falsely stating:
AiG writes:
It contains pellets of partially digested food, which rabbits chew on (along with the waste material”UGH!) in order to give their stomachs another go at getting the nutrients out.
This is incorrect. First feces is not cud and second they do not chew this material.

The Bible has reported a fact: persons living in said time period thought the sun revolves around the Earth.
A yet another fact.
The Bible has reported a fact: persons living in said time period believed that the divine was embodied by a patriarchal being with a bronze-age moral development, war lord orientation and a mindset very similar to other surrounding cultures.

How about Joshua Long Day
DivineBeginning writes:
Please cite some scriptures...no, just one scripture that is false in the bible.
Joshua writes:
And the sun stood still, and the moon stayed, until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies. Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and hasted not to go down about a whole day.
This is a story, a legend a myth. Is it false? It depends on what you mean by false. Are legends and myths false?
This event certainly implies an incomplete understanding of cosmology if nothing else.
However, if it were true, it definitely would require the suspension of a multitude of known and consistent physical laws. It would have been one of the grandest divine interventions in the affairs of humans that has ever been recorded including the flood, all the miracles of Christ and the alleged divine reaction at the point Christ's death which was relatively mild by comparison.
Compare the tearing of the temple curtain and the darking of the sky for a few hours to the stopping of the rotation of the earth and the independent orbit of the moon. And all this to what avail? So that the children of Israel could continue with slaughter and retribution?
If you believe this is true then you must believe the God works his best works when it involves slaughter and genocide.
