It depends on which 'finding' of the ark.
The one expedition brought back a sliver of wood that dated from the 12th Century. Others found geological outcropping that put shadows on the ground. At least one the program and expedition turned out to be a fraud.

you need to read your bible. it is not a source. it is a collection of writings and religous texts written by tons of people (4 or more alone in the first five books). it contradicts itself, it repeats itself, it tells stories that have no basis in fact (exodus never happened). it's a great story and a moral and spiritual guide given to us to understand a very real god, but a historically acuurate singular source it is not.

It depends on which 'finding' of the ark. i meant this one:
i'm aware of a few other "findings" but they're even less convincing than this.

It literally took until Kepler to understand the elliptical nature of planetary motion to develop an ephemeris that is even close to being "reasonably accurate" for significant lengths of time. kepler's model was the most accurate (still pretty good today, right?), but which would you say is more accurate between copernicus and ptolemy? neither system worked with the degree of accuracy we require. but is one more right than the other, just because it has the right idea? or is it because the explanation is a little simpler?
Most likely, you couldn't. Ptolemaic astromony is a linear system and going to Mars requires some understanding of relativistic physics because you are going fast enough to have it show some effects. We've already seen a probe bounce off the atmosphere because of errors in approach. yes, i suppose that was exageration. nasa and russians both had lots of problems sending stuff to mars. although, the most recent error in approach was due to a stupid programmer using the wrong system of measure.
You prove my point. wasn't trying to do otherwise.
Most think it's a rock outcropping. as someone who appreciates geology, that's a pretty cool outcropping. (personally, it's just never looked like a big boat to me)

Arachnophilia,
It has been so long since I have seriously studied the Ptolemaic and Copernican models that I can't state with any certainty which one is more accurate. I seem to recall that there is a commercially available astronomy program out there that will model the solar system in the Ptolemaic and Copernican ways as well as show how the universe actually moves if we assume the earth is fixed and everything moves around it. Alas, I can't recall the name. I want to say it's EOA's Astronomy Explorer, but I wouldn't swear to it. If I recall correctly, the Ptolemaic model doesn't sufficiently explain the phases of Venus given its orbit around the Earth, not the Sun. Rrhain WWJD? JWRTFM!

Willowtree,
I will make a Noah's Ark/Flood thread as soon as possible. First, I'm in the process of typing up a lot of information that has not been put on the web that is desperately needed. And about the blood on the Ark...ahhemm...well...let me tell you this Willowtree, that is a touchy subject, and that is why I'm more hesitant to embark upon that subject. Remember, of all the discoveries claimed by W.A.R, the Ark of the Covenant is the ONLY "wait and see" discovery. Just be assured that the Israeli government is well aware of all this data, and because the Ark of the Covenant sits on Palistinian soil, the Israeli government has told W.A.R. to keep the information regarding it's existance as confidential as possible. W.A.R. must heed the warnings of the Israeli government, as publically revealing it's presence (and the blood) could result in Jihad, a Holy War of Islam. I have plenty of offical data on this, and I will reveal it due season, but not for now I will stick with the other discoveries. Remember, the hatred between the Israeli's and the Palistinians is severe...and this is why the identity of the laboratory testers of the blood has remained confidential. One British Man who lost all patience attempted to "tell the world" of the discovery of the Ark of the Covenant. Ron Wyatt and the team told him he COULD NOT do that, as W.A.R. had given the Israeli government their word. Things were bad enough already. In 1990, the Israeli authorites decided to test public reaction to a possible discovery announcement of the Ark of the Covenant and to a possible building of a new Temple. The result was a bloody clash and many deaths. The morning of Monday October 8, 1990 will survive in history as the "Temple Mount massacre". 11 Israeli worshipppers, and eight policement were injured, while 21 Arabs were shot dead and 125 seriously injured in a clash between Zionists and Arab Moslems. Between Jewish extremists and nervous Arabs, the Ark of the Covenant was and is political dynamite. The man went ahead anyway and decided to call a conference meeting about telling the world--the result? When the journalists arrived for the press conference, the man was found lying in the alley in a pool of blood. There was a bullet hole in teh back of his head. He had been shot by a single sniper's bullet. The lane was swarming with mounted police, soldiers and medical units. "Arab extremists," said the newspaper. No further explanation was given. That was back in April 27, 1986. The situation has not changed, and W.A.R continues to respect the government's wishes not to divulge certain details. A total of 16 people have died attempting to go in and remove the Ark of the Covenant. All 16 were declared dead from a stroke. ALL! The 6 Israeli's dressed in Levitical robes were sent in by the Israeli government to move the Ark of the Covenant (through the main Zedekiah's Cave entrance) over to Israeli soil--should the Palistinians ever find out it was on "their side". The Ark of the Covenant has been known in ancient times to give "victories in battle" to those who have it, so therefore even the Palistinians want it. A Rabbi in Jerusalem has even counseled W.A.R. to leave the Ark of the Covenant where it is for now, "as the time is not ripe". The 6 men that entered the tunnel system never came back out, so the government called Wyatt to go in there and find out what happened to them. Ron brought each body out, and it was circulated in Israeli Newspapers that "these 6 Israeli men died trying to retrieve a national artifact". Each of the dead men had their eyes rolled back into their heads. Nothing physical killed them. All 16 died of, well, should I say it? "Supernatural causes"? Only Ron Wyatt was appointed by God for this work, and this is why Ron had God' protecting hand. Ron Wyatt said that he had to repent of every known and unknown sin before each time he enterred the chamber. The Government since then has asked W.A.R. to seal off the entrance. Bob Murrel built a steel door and sealed off the original tunnel--The door has been camouflaged with rocks and dirt. If you only knew what's really going on behind all of this Remember, the Jews connect the revealing of the Ark of the Covenant with the coming of the Messiah! Hence it is unthinkable to even consider fully excavating it until the "Messiah" comes! Would you like to know more Willowtree? (of course, people like Charles will forever be locked in their den of not knowing what's really going on out there...so sad ) This message has been edited by Lysimachus, 09-22-2004 12:51 PM ~Lysimachus

Oh, yeah. I saw this movie - only Harrison Ford and Karen Allen were spared because they kept their eyes closed. All the other Nazis had their faces melted off by the power of the Ark.
It was pretty cool. That's a great movie.

Crashfrog...please, spare not only yourself, but me. I really feel sorry for you, as you are so ignorant as to what is really going on.
Go read more of my above post, as I added more... This message has been edited by Lysimachus, 09-22-2004 12:46 PM ~Lysimachus

I really feel sorry for you, as you are so ignorant as to what is really going on. Then by all means, educate me. Show me the evidence, though. What you've presented is a charming fantasy, nothing more. If you expect me to swallow it you need evidence. But hang on a sec - I need to find my tinfoil hat... You want evidence for the Ark of the Covenant? or Noah's Ark?
Like I said, I will not divulge on the AofC now. Perhaps in the future. The above was just a taste. For now and a while, it's Noah's Ark and the flood. ~Lysimachus

You want evidence for the Ark of the Covenant? or Noah's Ark? Either. Both. Anything that substantiates your cockamamie conspiracy theories. Couldn't you have stuck to Dan Brown thrillers instead of wasting our time on this forum?
Like I said, I will not divulge on the AofC now. Perhaps in the future. The above was just a taste. What a surprise.
For now and a while, it's Noah's Ark and the flood. Waiting for the evidence there, too. I wonder where it will come from this time? Theonion.com? National Lampoon? Fox News? Is there any site you won't take seriously if it tells you what you want to hear? This message has been edited by crashfrog, 09-22-2004 01:07 PM

How did our nice, tidy, well defined, clear, bounded poor little topic get way, way off the rails?
Rrhain (and others): It this gets buried in general discussions (including about the solar system) you will never be able to hold the "floodists" feet to the fire. They have avoided the oringinal point which hasn't been answered, IMNSHO, at all.
