No desperation involved. A bunch of us IMMEDIATELY saw the Europa statue in terms of the woman on the beast in Revelation. Straightforward recognition. All the "objective" stuff is absolutely irrelevant.
For what it's worth, the Biblical story of the angel Gabriel visiting the Virgin Mary (Luke 1:26-38) reminds me of the myth of Leda and the swan ('his wings as drifted snow', etc.). No doubt this is just as silly as seeing the Europa statue in terms of the woman of Revelation 17. One can make anything out of myths.
