Re: The population of Israel. My opinion.
Hi,John, if we reduce the Exodus numbers to 6000, how many were killed at Mt.Sinai, 3000 or 300 or 30? Ex32:28

Re: Exodus Population
Hi, John, WB. Regardless of how the Exodus population is calculated, we are stuck with the Bible proposal of circa 2.5 million. But no one mentions what happens after the next 480 years. Or did Yahweh turn off the sperm tap? Chapter, verse?

Re: God not being bright?
ANYTHING can be hidden if you think about it and can be left without a trace! Dang it, you`re right, Jura. All those 2.5 million people and an uncounted number of livestock left a line of poop right across the Sinai, charcoal from fires, bones from human and animal deaths, discarded artifacts, probably dropped some of the loot from the Egyptians, worn-out clothing, pots`n pans past their use-by date, discarded household items, etc., and God zapped it all out of existence to confound those Doubting Thomases in modern times.

Re: God not being bright?
One minor point. If they did such an excellent job of cleaning up as they went, how come the Egyptians followed them?

Re: God not being bright?
becuase the egyptians left right after the Jews left and so they knew were they were going Knew where they were going? They followed a pillar of cloud/pillar of fire through the wilderness. Maybe the unnamed Pharoah homed in on the pillars, too?

evidence problem: there simply is no evidence at all correct? but then if the bible has this big of a claim it has to have some sort of accuracy. was there such a man named...i forgot the Pharohs name...etc.
Don`t worry about forgetting the Pharoah`s name--the author of Exodus(whoever she was) did too. :-p Edited by Nighttrain, : clarification of gender

Re: Big Claims
Hey, Jura, that you posting over at Infidels as Larsguy47? He has the clean-up bug, too, after the Exodus.

Re: A case of mythtaken identity
Hi, Mod, the 'myth' may be more mythic than it seems. Since scholars generally identify the 'book' that came through the Josiah/Hilkiah bottleneck as Deuteronomy, where did the rest of the Torah spring from? Did those exiles in Babylon get the idea of re-writing the legends to reestablish tribal pride? The OT then disappears in the quicksands of the 3-5th centuries B.C. Just like the NT dissolves pre-Eusebius.
