It seems Adam didn't quite pass on the message word for word.
Genesis 3:3 (Eve Speaking)
...but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.' "
Genesis 2:17 (God Speaking)
...but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die."
But since sin is going against God's commands, I agree that the first sin was Eve eating the apple.
In
Message 12 the originator presents:
The first sin was when Eve lied to the serpent. God had said nothing about touching the tree, so she lied.
But I contend that God had not commanded them not to lie or make a rule stricter (Like putting a fence around the Torah), plus as I said earlier Adam may have added the Do Not Touch portion when he passed on the command. We really don't know.
Going strictly by the text, Eve's nibble was first.
Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?
