My big dilemma on both of these scripture quotes is that they seem to condradict each other. On one hand it's ok for women to speak out in church if the head is covered, and on the other, they can't talk at all in church!
There is no contradiction. The second admonition was Paul's personal preference - Corinthian women should keep their mouths shut in the Church.
The first admonition assumes God can speak through a woman, yet Paul interjects another personal preference.
In context Paul was speaking to the most troublesome and carnal N.T. church - Corinth. The admonitions apply if the shoe fits. History has showed Corinth never produced a god-damn thing.
