Prophecy Not Restricted To Church Services
karen writes:
My big dilemma on both of these scripture quotes is that they seem to condradict each other. On one hand it's ok for women to speak out in church if the head is covered, and on the other, they can't talk at all in church!
Hi Karen. If you take both scriptures on Paul literally, you have no problem.
1. Men did the speaking and prophesying in or out of the church. Much of the prophesying was done outside of the church services; likely most of it.
2. Women could prophecy outside of the church services. Mary and Elizabeth are an example of this as their prophecies were in their homes.
3. Even some OT prophets usually prophesied outside of the temple or synagogue. Jesus's great Olivet Discourse prophecy was while he was on the Mount of Olives sitting around with his desciples.

The immeasurable present is forever consuming the eternal future and extending the infinite past. buzsaw
