Re: Why do we have a seven day week?
I dunno, why is everyone on the planet now going by the Christian calendar? Even Muslims? Ask a Chinese or a Jew what year it is.
2005 A.D. they'll say.

Re: Why do we have a seven day week?
I know you just meant in the English language that Tuesday is Tuesday, but the names in English don't come from the planets, they come from names of Norse gods.
Tuesday = Tew's Day
Wednesday = Woden's Day
Thursday = Thor's Day
Friday = Freya's Day
The rest came from Moon, Sun, Saturn, of course.
Here's a webpage: The Seven-Day Week and the Meanings of the Names of the Days
I think it's interesting that the Norse and Greeks/Romans had similar gods for similar purposes.

Re: It isnt 2005 in Saudi
I understand that there are different calendars, and most definitley, Muslims follow the Islamic calander so they can have their holidays ar the right time, but Internationally, the christian calendar is used.
It's the same phenomenon as most people in international business speaking English.
If there is some international transaction, which dating system is used? The "common era" system.
The UN uses it, most, if not all, countries use it in international affairs and trade, if I'm not mistaken.
They celebrated the Millenium in Cairo, Tokyo, along the great wall of China, and all around the world.
